thanks for your response Boran, always appreciate your insights Pornsaneh is a very fan friendly fighter to watch very powerful with a variety of quick combinations- not the typical thai style. If he was bigger like the size of masato and Souwer I believe he could have (if invited to K-1) would have definetly been among the very best in the Max tourney. I wouldt say for certain that he would dominate because I think fighters like souwer, Masato, and Petrosyan would have been competitive. they are great fighters after all. But Pornseneh has the goods just not the size to have been a great international kickboxer. This is why K-1 really needs to push the smaller weighclasses so they can promote some of the best talent. I agree with you Boran Sipayak vs Kataphet was a mismatch in skill Kataphet clearly was iagressive and in control of the fight up until he was nearly removed from his concousness from a well placed right highkick. And if their was more time on the clock in the 2nd round Sipayak might have won, but Kataphet again dominated in the 3rd until he was able to return the favor when he countered with his own highkick. Sipayak never knew what hit him and eneded up leaning right into it:bbb
I havent seen this fight before either. I really enjoy watching Ole Kiatoneway fight, but this was very one sided. Ole is the bigger faster stronger man and it showed. in the 4th round their was a point where ole and Karuhat clinched up and Ole just threw him to the ground with ease... Karuhat was just too small. Karuhat was pretty sneaky tying to set up those highkicks early, but later he seemed to be resigned to losing. Ole came on strong with punching combos there in the fifth round. the announcer was interesting havent seen this before in a Mauythai fight. Did he really read the scorecards and announce the winner like they do in boxing? Anyway Stormy thanks for the post, dont want to sound negitve but Karuhat just didnt seem to have a chance here. He seemed slow and old. Does anybody have some info on this fight?
I don't know anything about the fight card, although looking at them, this looks like from when they're both a little older/into their careers, respectively. I watched it and think the same thing. Ole just outclassed him. I'd never seen Karuhat look that cautious and tense. Every other fight I've seen him in, he's super relaxed, comfortable and confident. I think Ole was more in damage control mode, not looking to put a hurt on Karuhat, just win the bout comfortably.
Personally I think Dieselnoi 6'3" 135 lbs is the most physically imposing/ stylistic nightmare to ever exist in combat sports. his knees were brutal holding those pads must have been hell.
Kaensak so Ploenchit is steadily rising on my favorite Thai boxers lists(also clearly an ATG as previously mentioned on this thread) here is one of IMO his best performances against 4 time lumpinee champ and ATG Lamnamoon Sor Sumalee whos specialty was clinchfighting and is considered one of the very best at that style. Kaensak is in the red shorts [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmhZDq4lYMM[/ame] another great fight by Kaensak who is in the red shorts: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cb4If1OJwX0[/ame]
by the way I found this on Lamnamoon a while back been meaning to post this. a little old I know full of info.
This event happened in Auckland, New Zealand and was shown live in Thailand on channel 9 probabaly with Army or Governmant backing. Notice the big wig general putting the belt on Ole with Yodthong. At the time Thailand was busy building itself up as a top notch tourist destination and never missed a chance to showcase elements of it's culture abroad whehter it be food, Buddhism or Muay Thai. Notice the guys wearing the Mita shorts often worn by Thais representing thier country abroad around then, remember all those great fights in Holland? If you're standing in fornt of a Thai in the those silver shorts......:scaredas:......ruuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnnnnn Good fight eyes fellas, both of your assesments of Karuhat are on the money. In thier last meeting at 105 (this was at 115) Karuhat had dominated the 4th and 5th to win the fight, so something was definatly up in this fight. The commentators mention how he was stuggling with the height and reach of Ole as well as Ole being a more rounded fighter since thier last encounter, however I think the real answers to your observations have something to do with..... Notice how he has a shaved head and lack of eybrows, well he'd just come out of a monastry where he'd been on retreat as a monk after his uncle died, so probabaly hadn't been training to hard, notice how soft he looks. As you say he was easily thrown around by Ole, Karuhat had no strength, power or stamina....Well that morning at the weigh in Karuhat was 2 kilos over and had to drain himself to make weight, so a possible explanation. Shows you what a monster Ole must have been at cutting weight.
I had noticed the lack of eyebrows and thought about him just coming back from being a monk. The disparity in physical ability in this fight is super strong, especially considering what I'm used to seeing from Karuhat, especially. Would you happen to have a link for their other fights, or know if they are available anywhere? Man, there's gotta be some deep archives with amazing match ups/fights at the Thai broadcasting studios just waiting to be unearthed and shared.
I may have the previous fight on a One Songchai VCD, I'll be able to check this weekend at my mum's place where I have most of my One Songchai's stored. As with most of the Onesongchai stuff it won't be the whole fight probabaly the last 3 rounds. If I've got it I'll upload it onto my You Tube channel. About the Thai archives, Yaca, Flea and I have mentioned this alot, but don't count on much of it surviving. This is a country that only upgraded to a computer immigration system in 2005 because the US bullied them into doing so! Yaca, I'm not ignoring yourdoble ATG bad asses Lamnamoon & Kaensak posts I'm saving them for the weekend when I can get into them and enjoy them properly. Great to see it getting back to an ATG thread! :thumbsup
That would be awesome, much thanks Boran! Unfortunate regarding the loss of clips. On the subject of Lamnamaoon and Karuhat, here's a fight I just recently saw, Karuhat vs Lamnamoon. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DqFuJfwXzo[/ame]
So I saw this Charoensap fight today and thought I should add it to the list of his. Was this guy ever in a boring fight!? Easy to see why they call him Diamond heart, if in fact it refers to what I think it does... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEZIyNZUD18&feature=g-all-u[/ame] Another good scrap from Charoensap against Samson Issarn a crazy come forward fighter who seems to enjoy pain. Who says clinchfighting is boring! Certainly not when its done right. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nfihtl1Wo-E&feature=related[/ame]
