But I don't think Lewis was shot, firstly he was preparing for Johnson (easy fight) and secondly whilst he wasn't in his prime I think Lewis would have struggled with Vitali at any stage of his career. I think Lewis underestimated how tough VK was, realised he may be slipping hence retirement with legacy intact. Clever man is that Lennox.

I agree with you in the sense that he would stuggle with him a la like against Briggs, but he would overcome him, with youth and more speed he wouldn't allow vit to outwork him in the early stages.
