Which pre-1980s fighters, 140lbs or under, would you favor over Floyd Jr?

What about Locche?

 

Floyd has the wider range of offence to Locche (not by a huge amount admittedly) and Cervantes, whilst long and awkward, won't be able to establish his rhythm consistently enough.

Both would give Floyd more hassle than most of the jokers he's faced post Castillo II anyway.

 

Willie Pep was certainly a better boxer than floyd, I`m thinking he is just naturally too small though.

fmj was one of the naturally big 130 lbers there ever was & if any fighter was ever a natural FW it was Willie Pep.... size might be too much for the more skilled Pep to overcome here.

IMO Floyd is quite overrated because of his career path.

 

Floyd is the most overrated fighter of all time.

 

The General Forum ruled him to be more skilled than Duran in Garrus' thread. It was actually extremely lopsided in Floyd's favor for a while before evening out. :verysad

 

I'm not saying he's not 'great'. I'm saying that as so many rank him in the top 30 (and higher) he's horrendously overrated.

 

You do favor him against Martinez though, and at 160. Regardless of what you think of Martinez, I think that's proof positive you don't have an agenda against the guy, because many see that fight as a major issue for him down at 154, much less Middleweight.
