I just watched this fight again, and Ward won that fight 59-55. The 4th round where Boone knocked Ward down (which I can only assume is how you award Darnell the whole fight) still only earned Boone a 9-9 round, as Andre dominated the first 2 minutes and 15 seconds. Round 5 was also a 10-10 round, and besides that the rest of the fight was a Ward whitewash. Plenty of boxing greats have been knocked down early in their careers to lesser fighters, it doesn't mean much, and it certainly doesn't mean they have a glass chin.

These posts show how relevant Calzaghe still is all these years after he retired.
So much so that even Wards trainer knows he has to call out an old retired fighter, for his fighter to escape the ghost of Calzaghe.
Beating Calzaghes leftovers wont do it and beating leftovers of leftovers of Calzaghe is even worse.

Just look at how all Wards best wins date to Calzaghe -

Calzaghe beat undefeated Kessler, who when past best, rusty, and unwell is Wards best win, which was only a win from a cut caused by a headbutt

Calzaghe - Kessler beat Froch beat Pascal beat Dawson

Problem for Ward is that he does not have other top fighters at SMW to compete against and lost the opportunity with Bute, whilst Calzaghe had Eubank, Reid, Woodhall, Brewer, Mitchell, Veit, undefeated Kessler, undefeated Lacy who all held SMW titles.

The only way Ward can really move on is by fighting some top undefeated champions like -

Knockdowns do not always warrant 10-8 rounds, if the fighter that gets knocked down is dominating the rest of the round, the normal rules still apply. The felled fighter still wins the round if they dominated throughout, but loses a point for the kd, hence the 9-9 round.

It looks like you might be the one that has a hard time scoring rounds, if you automatically award 10-8's for every kd.

The clash of heads in the Ward/Kessler fight came in round 8 after being completely shut out by Ward who won every round. Bleeding occurred in the 11th that stopped the fight. Cut or no cut Ward went through him like a blow torch on butter. The joe parade dont like that Ward handled him easier and do their best to diminish the win.

    Hiya pal!

I know that styles make fights, and it's true. But Glen didn't catch him with a lucky shot, he dominated him. Nobody ever dominated Roy. I give Glen credit for taking advantage of the situation at the time, but as I've said many times, in my honest opinion, Roy at 100 per cent, would have beaten Glen, without much trouble. I think Griffin (even though his career fizzled out somewhat) was as good as Glen, and Reggie Johnson too. Also Ruiz was a bigger test than what Glen would of been.

I don't think there's a lot of people out there that do give Glen huge credit for that win. Joe must be one of those people too, because he doesn't give Tarver credit for beating him.

    Regards, Loudon.

You're too daft to debate with.

    Blows himself up in weight?

He didn't have to lose as much.

Why are you laughing at Tarver?

Joe could have fought him. But guess what he did instead?

He told everyone he wanted big fights and then fought....... Wait for it.......
