I thought you were a david haye fan? You even admitted once that Haye has great punching and finishing ability

Based on footage, stance, and style that man knocks out Holyfield and outpoints Ezzard Charles.

Not nearly as funny as trying to qualify David Haye for this list ... that's hilarious ...

I stand corrected! I missed the detection of sarcasm. Can you give me a free pass? I had surgery on my ear this morning, I have been on heavy medication all day.

David Haye has a unique blend of two fisted power and handspeed that we have not seen in many years. He is very athletic, deadly finisher, and his timing is impeccable.

Bob Fitzsimmons is twenty fold more impressive.

It can be rather easily argued that Fitz competed in an era that had much larger recruitment to the sport, fewer divisions, fewer belts, yet Fitz dominated a larger span of weights with more emphatic results.

How would Haye deal with 4 ounce gloves, no mouth guard, grueling conditions and referees raised on LPR fights?

Larger recruitment with the subtraction of black fighters being allowed to fight for the title. Fitzsimmons only had to compete against the top white fighters. The talent level for that reason alone should be frowned upon.

I tend to believe we have the modern rules in place in current day for a reason. So in fantasy fights, I am going to base my predictions on what would happen with todays rules. Now, if you want Haye to fight Fitzsimmons in "Street fight" like manners(fitzsimmons era) well I'm just not going to do that. I will give Fitz the benefit of the doubt and say he would adjust to mdoern glove size, mouth guard, better conditions just fine...however his style of low hands, no head movement, wide elbows, leaning back....he will get crucified by david haye.

If my ethnographies in college were correct, Americans of African descent were about 11% of the US population around the turn of the 20th century. Why emphasize such a small population? Where is your uproar over him not facing Asian-Americans (4%) or Latino's (probably close to 8%)? What exactly are you getting at?

He faced the best his various divisions had to offer. His opponents were not well-to-do aristocrats but culled from the socio-economical scum of society, where typically all the great boxers hail from. At that time, that scum was largely Irish, Jewish, Eastern European... and to a lesser extent African American, Latino and Aboriginal American. I should say Fitz faced a very representative cross section of the sporting elite.

The single nail you could hang your argument upon is Peter Jackson. They sparred and Fitz was impressed, probably too impressed. But if Fitz was ducking Jackson, more folks were ducking Fitz.

Your argument is really not a compelling one.

For what it is worth, Fitz dominated the world coloured Middleweight champion, although technically may have lost the bout, because he didnt knock him out.

I am also pretty sure that he knocked out the former world coloured heavyweight champion Joe (George) Godfrey but there is some conjecture about that. Peter Jackson would have started favourite against Fitzsimmons- prime for prime, but that doesnt mean he would ahve beaten him.
