His dad was seen to advise Jr. to back Martinez up by throwing shots just anywhere at Martinez' chest. Jr. never did that. He followed Martinez around but failed to throw the volume ammount of punches necessary to make Martinez feel the pressure.

The one thing Chavez Jr. could have used against Martinez is the straight right down the pike that was routine in any Chavez Sr. fight.
It was obvious looking at Jr. loop his right against Martinez that the straight right was'nt something that was emphasized by Roach in training camp.
Against southpaws, the straight right is the best weapon to use. All you have to do is look at Marquez repeatedly busting Manny Pacquiao with it.


As someone that roots for Chavez Jr. its disapointing to here him spew excuses and blame others around him instead of pointing the finger at himself.
Until Jr. man's up and points the finger at himself, he's gone as far as he's going to go.
