Not to mention he was pumped full of juice...as soon as Roid started to rely on his skills as opposed to his 'athleticism' he got sparked easy
He was a fraud and a charlatan. That's what he was. That's all he was. As well as a shitstain on boxing, obviously.
Nigel Benn was better than Eubank. Somehow Chris with his big mouth and the television behind... Overrated!
What fight were you watching??? Jones destroyed Malinga... Had to resort to his insane ability to beat him?? OK!atsch I am a Jones fan and think Eubank was an elite fighter, you don't have to crap on what Jones did to get the point across... Anyone that watched Eubank can see he was very good.
I agree.. The best version of Jones, vs the best version of Eubank would have been fun to watch... Eubank lasts i think... I would favor Roy for sure, but I think it is a bit closer than Jones vs. Toney.
Jones badly struggled with Malinga's defense before his dramatic feinting and amateurish leap shot bailed him out (speed and power, no skill)...he also struggled with Thornton's defense when he had him on the ropes (due to Thornton's shoulder injury), hardly any of that 20-shot flurry of punches landed on Thornton; Eubank landed at will on Thornton. No doubt Eubank was a lot slicker than Jones. But as I admit above, Jones did have speed, power and naturally gifted athletic talent he was born with.
Its a shame when you look back that these fights never got made. i think jones beats benn but benn always had a chance with anybody due to his speed and power. Jones v peak eubank would have been very interesting, i think eubank and his style would have given jones one of the toughest fights of his career.
I guess we will have to disagree on what we see as "skill" The ability to hit and not be hit, is skill to me, it may not always be textbook, but it is the definition of skill when it comes to boxing.. And Jones was the master of it. John Lennon was a great song writer, there were many more "skilled" musicians, that cant write as good a song.... Some things are just natural, some people are just great at what they do...
I agree with this... Jones vs. Eubank was just never all that viable... Jones vs. Benn was though.. and it is a shame... I read an interesting article about this fight, and Don King wanting too much.. Total shame, I think Benn and Jones were both reluctant, but would have gone through with the right money... Jones would have had a tough time with the best version of Eubank... Which i am sure he would have been had he knew he was fighting Roy Jones... Jones destroys the version Calzaghe fought..
