Seriously guys, where does this myth that Jones fought bums and "public servants" come from????

    Hopkins(2)
    Toney
    Hill
    Ruiz
    Tarver(3)
    Johnson (Reggie and Glen)
    Castro(in his 18th fight!)
    Harding
    Pazienza
    Griffen(2)
    McCallum
    Malinga
    Lucas
    Woods
    Gonzales
    Calzaghe
    Lebedev

Even Trinidad was at least a big name if nothing else.

For a guy that fought bums he sure fought a lot of good fighters!

FFS what a terrible post, he only got into the ring with Calzaghe (Hopkins again) and Lebedev because he needed the money and somehow this is meant to be a defence of his not ducking the best in his prime?

And :rofl:rofl:rofl@listing the likes of Paz and Harding.

Every fighter in the history of the sport fought a few bums. Roy Jones has a better resume that any fighter that you assholes try to say he ducked. That is a fact. You have fighters that people say he ducked who came out and said they didn't want to fight him and yet he is the ducker. lmao

Harding was coming off a victory over Tarver.

Paz was before and even after his fight with Jones a top 10 SMW at the time.

Who do you suggest he ducked?

Eubank, who has stated he wanted no part of Jones until AFTER he lost to Collins?

Jackson and Nunn who were past prime by the time Jones got anywhere near his?

Benn, who has a loss to Malinga, a guy Jones destroyed.(Malinga also lost a controversial SD to Eubank)

McClellan, a guy who was heavily tipped to fight Roy until what happened against Benn.

Dariusz M who simply would not leave Germany, even though the money was bigger in America.

One thing is for certain, he has a better resume than any of these fighters.

Also, its overlooked that nearly all greaters, dont fight EVERYONE in their era.

For example, Floyd is going to be considered one of the best of this era whether he fights Pac or Sergio or not. Theres always reasons fights break down.

Jones overall resume is actually very impressive.
Toney, Hopkins,Hill,McCallum,Calzaghe will all be in the HOF.

How many HOF fighters did Eubank or Benn fight?

How about Dariusz?,who exactly did he beat to make him some sort of great fighter that would have given Jones a hard time?

Is that why he jumped 2 divisions to fight a guy who was 30 lbs heavier than him and had a high percentage KO ratio?

No more hilarious than any of Calzaghe's statements regarding Roy Jones, and not wanting tough fights but big money.

I don't know whats wrong with a fighter saying they don't want to end up in a wheelchair and want to take care of themselves..

And for all you say he ducked.. He has wins over 2 of the biggest names of the generation. 4 weight champion.. The list of world champions defeated by Roy is quite long.

He visited McClellan after the terrible accident and even helped him out financially. It was the garcia fight back in 95 that really messed him up though

    Good post MR :good

I don't think people appreciate the kind of risks that fighters take every time they step into the ring, even just sparring

In the example of Jones and Calzaghe, these comments are held against them, which is fair in a sense. However, boxing is just a living and a career, a way to set themselves up financially, and if you can do that without having to risk serious physical and mental damage, then I don't have a problem with that.

Those who copy and paste these comments repeatedly to insult fighters are probably low lives themselves, who've never stepped into a boxing gym in their lives.

Nothing wrong with this win despite Harding going on to prove he was nothing more then a contender.

To defend Paz as a credible 168lb opponent is a joke, the guy had two bouts with a 50 year old Duran just before where he went life and death not to mention he was no world beater at 140lb (a weight that suited him better)

I don't think Eubank was all that interested in the Jones fight.

Is this the reason he didn't fight them? because they were past prime? Then why was he fighting a 40 year old Mike McCallum?

Ahh the classic 'A beat B so me must beat C' argument.

Be honest with yourself do you really think McCellan would have squared off against Jones had he beat Benn knowing Jones's history of excuses?

Watch from 2:15 where Larry Merchant confirms that Michalczewski 'is willing to come to America to fight you'

For such a great fighter his resume should have been soo much better with what was available to him.

What type of silly point is this? 'A and B didn't fight enough HOF bound fighters so they don't deserve a shot at C'

Michalczewski was the LINEAL LHW champion meaning he was THE MAN and Roy Jones avoided him like the plague, he was undefeated and had power in both hands and was getting a lot of buzz but Jones wanted none of it even though it would have no doubt been a top 3 win for him.
