He should of fought Mcclellan at mw, when they were both champions
In his defense he did try to make that fight

In all fairness to Roy, I do remember a time when he was having a hard time getting top fighters to fight him.

What you have to understand KA is that some fanboys of said fighters will claim that their fighter was ducked by another fighter and I think it's only fair to provide these confessions as proof when the other side decides to challenge the notion of ducking.

I could be mistaken, but wasn't the winner of Mcclellan-Benn originally supposed to fight Jones?

I see what you're saying Arcane, and I've seen it on these boards before. 'Ducking' is a term that gets thrown around here far too much.

On Jones and DM, I've read multiple times on here that Darius rejected offers up to $5m to come fight Jones in the US, which I find hard to believe, I've never actually seen any solid proof of these 'offers'. Not that I'm saying Jones was scared of DM, but what effort did he make to get DM over to the US?

King promised the winner of that fight that they would get a shot.

At that time anyone not from England considered Calzaghe, ottke, Benn, and Eubank just another group of bums. Even if Eubank and Benn had some credibility they were not worth traveling to fight. You and a few others are playing revisionists history.

I agree with you about ducking getting thrown around too much.. The business part of boxing is more complex than people realize... Also I have seen Roy get accused of ducking fighters when the timing never really made it all that possible or viable from a business standpoint.

I actually don't know much about why Roy didn't fight DM.. I have seen them both say they wanted to fight each other, I know Roy would have never gone to Germany at that time.. For whatever reason, this is the biggest black mark on Roy's list of fighters he didn't fight. It hurts DM a bit too I believe. Roy would have been the best fighter he ever fought, a win would have made him ATG.

There was interest for a Benn fight, not much for the other guys

Roy at his best was the GOAT. If you cant see that youre hating. He toyed with Toney and BHOP in their primes.

He gave HBO the green light to make thee fight. Both HBO and Brad Jacobs(Jones's advisor after Levin) said that Peter Kohl made talks difficult and things fizzled out. Dariusz then went on to lose to Gonzalez, which ended interest in the fight altogether

To be honest mate i'm not clued in fully on the efforts that were made to get Michalczewski to come to America, Zod may have know more on what was offered and what he demanded.

I'll ignore the absurd border line trolling assertion that Jones was the GOAT in his prime, but do you honestly think 93 Hopkins was prime? do you also think Margarito destroyed the very best version of Martinez?

Gotta say, I like that line about Larry Merchant.
