I analysed them & saw them for what they were, mills & boon for men, a short read, a book for reading on the dunny

I suspect that there are some on here that thought they were masterpieces, they'd be pushing Bob for the booker prize, well, if they knew what the booker prize was, after all, these books were a big jump from "green eggs & ham"

**** you're an idiot, no one's claiming they were anything other than a good yarn.

You're the only one desperately trying to make an intellectual point out of the death of an Aussie yarnspinner :-(

You must be hard up for attention today.

...and that **** was a doctor.

You are correct about the old mans Penthouse collection though, there have been some decent writers in there. John Birmingham is worth reading from time to time.

**** me WOR I bet you have a wall chart telling you what opinions a sensitive new age man is supposed to have on every subject. I'd think you were Peter Fitzsimmons but for the fact you hate rugby and that you're borderline illiterate.

Les Norton books may not be literature but they are no worse than any number of best sellers to be found on the shelves and as they are definitely more unique than most of them.

What do you read that makes you so high and mighty?

..yeah RIP Robert Barrett..classic Aussie author..
..I read a newpaper article years ago where it said Barrett developed alot of his early characters in the Les Norton books from characters or a mix of characters he met at the Ross Meatworks up in Townsville..I was to work there about 5 years after him and these characters were all still there..boxing identities..cowboys..bouncers..all types of crooks and drug dealers..maori's etc etc...so I really could relate to his mentality bein' a butcher/boner myself..
..so yes..a sad loss but at least he made his mark..and will always be remmembered..

lol @ Cloudstreet - you ponce, you're trying to rip on everyone in this thread who's read Rob Barrett's books when you've admited to having read and analysed every one of them, and then try to take the higher intellectual ground by claiming to read Dostoyevsky and Tolstoy

Who cares? Stay out of the thread if you're just trying to use it as a vehicle to show off how much of a twat you are.
