All these aspects should be enough for him to considered a contender for the top 5 spot, obviously personal rankings are all subjective but it's tougher for a fighter in the modern era to rank highly especially when he's still active and doesn't get to benefit from the rose tinted glasses other boxers are viewed and judged through.

 

Not sure how much weight the record title defenses holds as 12 of them were of the IBF trinket (a vacant title) alone. Eventually going on to hold all four straps is a incredible feat though there have been four only since 1989, so being the first doesn't carry the type of significance historically that it might suggest. That being said, I completely agree regarding the rose tints, and that's something particularly prevalent in regards to quality of opposition IMO.

What are you more concerned about: SRL over SRR or Hearns being Top 4? I could see where he's coming from if he rates Hearns that high at the weight. Unfortunately, his best win there is Cuevas and his pedigree at 147 focuses a lot more on what he is presumed to be from a H2H/Ability standpoint. There's no doubt SRL was a touch of two more refined as a fighter, threw the more straight punches, maybe a tick quicker with the hands and feet. He was as complete as it gets. SRR for my money though, no doubt.

 

Anyone who doesn't have Hopkins at the lower end of their top five MW's needs to be ***** slapped.
