The wording there gives the impression you haven't gotten around to catching that one just yet. :yep Vazquez lost all six rounds, very badly, and looked for long periods like he was going to get KTFO himself before he rallied back when Oquendo ran out of gas.



Actually, both Puerto Rican co-features went the same come to think of it. :think Calderon was pitching a shutout and showing flashes of his prime self against Fuentes when he suddenly took a baffling tactical shift and let Fuentes bang him in the corner and against the ropes at the end of the 4th (and into the 5th). It's thought he injured his right arm, and basically just tanked it the rest of the way.

 

Like I said... I got a sudden case of having a life, so I missed everything after the European cards, and haven't had time to watch the missed bouts.
I logged on and visited your RbR of one, but was too tired to keep watching.

Yeah, can't stress enough how badly Oquendo was kicking Jr.'s ass for the first 5-6 rounds, it was pretty shocking. I expected the opposite. It wound up being the result we'd both anticipated, but it took a very different route to get there. Oquendo came across looking the much better fighter than Vazquez, except for his gas tank.


Also, it was crazy seeing Calderon look so slick & quick in there - almost like those setbacks against Segura never even happened. For 3 1/2 rounds it was like being whisked away in a time machine back to 2008. Then, whatever happened (injury or mental collapse), he just froze up and let the vastly inferior Fuentes pummel him into Bolivian. :conf Very odd.

 

That phrase will never leave boxing I'm afraid.
