No offense pal but i didn't want no fanboys in this thread running to the defence of Toney. The facts are there to see for everyone, i just wanted to know if there were ever any other champions out there that had reeled off such an embarrassing run of opponents whilst they were a reigning champion. Maybe in another future thread we will study Toney in more detail where we can run over the merits of his career. thanks pal.

Every champion front 1960 and before. James was one of a kind the only fighter today tthat even comes close to what Toney did is Miguel Vazquez.

Oh and Hembrick was a decent light heavy kinda fringe contender who was a pretty hyped prospect who had some goin skills he'd probably be top 10 in this **** 175 division. and fought for the title twice and in his previous fight lost a decision to Maske for the title. And Toney schooled and whooped his ass worse then anyone in his career.

And Glenn Thomas had just fought RJJ and it was his only lose. For a guy just staying busy and having all those fight while still fight top fighters is incredible.

    Show some respect.

Meh. Toney was a workhorse and fought like 10 times a year back then. Those were probably just stay busy fights.

It's not a good run of opponents, but it's not like it was accumulated over the span of 5 or 6 years.

Are you ****in stupid? Fans would love seeing top p4p fighters fight so many times a year. Get to see him destroy a few cans and 2 decent fighters and 3 top 10 fighters? One an defeated prospect the other who was a champion before his last fight?

That is how boxing should be and if it ever went back to that fans would love it.... Get to see Pacquiao destroy some bum on fnf's or something.

Toney was a big guy how the **** would taking steroids help him lose that weight? Toney spent most of his time draining himself to make weight I doubt steroids is a diuretic.

Littles was decent, Thornton and Williams were reasonable

And there are 7 others on there, it was a terrible run. If Wlad Klitschko fought 10 opponets of a similar quality to that consecutively, I bet you'd rip him to shreds :patsch

agreed. these guys are idiots on these boards. they still dont get the fact he fought all these guys in a 12 month period. where as now the fighters take on 2 or 3 opponents in a year.
    here is perspective

Toney had 26 fights before winning his first title

from 1991 to 1994 toney had 23 fights (12 world title fights)

in a 10 year career david haye has 28 fights

if you fight those shitty opponents over a 3 year period and fight no one else, its laughable..agreed

if you fight them all within a year and still have 3 other fights that are word title fights, who the **** cares?

Toney won his title, and his next 10 opponents (although not all were title defences) as a reigning champion were terrible! Make all the excuses you like about timescales, it is what it is.
