Meh. If Kessler didn't fight cans for 38 fights in europetown and fought some good guys like Calzaghe finally he wouldn't get so much ****. As long as you fight good guys it shouldn't matter the location.

Apart from 4 fights Joe never left Brittan. Thats a stay at home fighter no matter what way you look at it.

OK so you view Calzaghe as a stay at home fighter.

    What about Kessler?

Why post on a thread asking a question if you dont want to answer the question?

No I do not consider Calzaghe a 'stay at home' fighter.... That term is used by Roy Boys and Ward Dick Riders to trash Calzaghe. (Ironically)

Joe Calzaghe beat Eubank in 1997, by that time the focus of the SMW Division has shifted to Europe. Calzaghe sell out arenas and pack houses fight after fight.

He would have fought in half empty or tiny shitty arenas if he had went to the States. The focus of the 168 was shifting to Europe and it was no longer the same.

Calzaghe also fought in front of hostile crowds for a lot of his fights.

If Joe's era was from 1989-1999, he would have fought exclusively in America. The focus shifted and Europe had bigger crowds/more generated interest starting from the late 90's.

If Lennox's era was from 2004-Current instead of 1991-2003, Lewis would have fought 99% of his fights in England as well. Because the HW Focus had shifted to Europe too.

There is absolutely NO reason for Calzaghe to go to America and fight in front of 6000 pathetic fans.

Andre Ward hides in Oakland and rocks it in front of 6000 supporters.

Depends....if fighting in Manchester is considered 'home' for Calzaghe.

I'd say yes, both Calzaghe and Kessler were stay-at-home-fighter - thought you'd have to consider inter-UK cultural differances in some of Calzaghe's fights - but as I said in a different thread involving Ward, that doesn't make them bad fighters.

I'm saying they were both stay at home fighters but the difference is Joe catches less **** because he fought and beat good guys and came to the states and did it too.

Kessler tried, got beat up, ran back to Europe and is back to fighting cans.

Hmm, Kessler fought in Australia for his first defense back in 05. Later he fought Calzaghe at calzagheds hometurf. He fought Hausser in Germany and Ward in Oakland. So I wouldnt exactly call Mikkel Kessler a stay at home fighter!!!
