Is this the worst run of opponents ever for a reigning world champion?

    Great thread Guru.

TO answer your question, this is ONE OF THE worst runs ever.
James Toney was a god damn fraud and the only reason people make him out to have a 'brilliant' resume is because they want ROy Jone's biggest win to look bigger.

Toney had great talent, but his resume just like Roy Roy's is seriously **** when you talk about 'ATG' status.

Just me, but I tend to get a bit blase about PED use in all sports, not just boxing. Using Armstrong as an example, if you wanted to award his wins to a clean rider you would probably have to go outside the top 10 finishers. He was merely the best (or worst) doper in the bunch at that time.

When you look at other sports, you see Spanish midgets pressing en masse like a horde of scuttlers on speed. There's the likes of Djokovic and Nadal playing back to back 5 hour matches, assisted with only the occasional back massage and wipe down with a towel. If there isn't something dodgy going on there, you can knock me down with an Andy Murray 2nd serve...

With boxing, there has historically been lax testing, and there is a massive discrepancy in rewards between superstars and the next rung down. Even if you get caught, you get a short ban covering a period that you weren't planning to fight anyway, it gets called a No-Contest (huh?), and you just tell everyone that you forgot to read the label. If it isn't a free-for-all, it bloody well should be

In that context, I don't think it's likely that Toney, Jones, Holyfield etc are isolated cases, and they shouldn't be completely villified (at least not without an asterisk).

Wow, if you feel the need to troll pal then do it somewhere else. I've made my point over and over about what i wanted to debate. If i had an agenda with Toney i would be discussing the fact he's a multi-proven drug cheat in here but i've chosen not to debate that in here, i am just interested in finding farcial runs of consecutive opponents from reigning champions.

I'm here on esb to debate boxing and not to sit arguing with hate driven trolls all night, so either contribute to what i'm asking for of **** off back in your 1 bedroomed igloo and stick your ice sculptured dildo back up your fartpiece.

No disrespect, but the misconception that steroids and PEDs in general are only used to bulk up is one of the reasons that it is rife in boxing. Stanozolol is commonly used in cutting cycles. A lot of people swear that Trenbolone helps to burn fat.

Toney is a proven drugs cheat, and the discussion was over when this was likely to have started. Considering his history of weight fluctuations, uneven performances and his account of his pre-boxing weight, there are plenty of reasons to question whether he used PEDs long before he was caught. He certainly hasn't earned the benefit of the doubt, anyway.

His resume isn't too bad though there is some embarrassing performances on their and the constant steroid use will always be a rain cloud that hovers over him.

    Beat
    Nunn
    McCallum(x2)
    Reggie Johnson(albeit close)
    Jirov

Those alone make his resume good.
He also beat plenty of other good contenders
