Tell me Boxing fans. Do/did you rate Calzaghe and Kessler as stay at home fighters?

Does Calzaghe "catch less ****"? Or does he just get a different kind of crap? Because I've seen more people crapping on Calzaghe for beating Hopkins and Jones than I've seen people crapping of Kessler for fighting bums at home after losing abroad.

Kessler's trip to Oz is almost the same distance Joe travelled his whole fighting career.

Joe catches moe crap probably because he has more annoying fans than Kessler does, and Kessler is nowhere near the fighter Joe is resume wise.

While Joe did indeed often fight in Wales, he also fought in England almost if not as much as well which despite what 95% of Americans think is not the same country. He even fought in Scotland a one or two times. He also fought Roy and Bhop in their backyards so he gets a lot of credit. Kessler is more of a stay at home fighter, but not in the same bracket as Ward , Ottke or Bute (pre Froch)

Both of them , yes. The ratio of home fights is far greater than away fights. Its basic logic. Whats the point of this?

Most fighters have more fights at home, that doesnt make them a stay at home fighter.
Froch has had far more fights in the UK than he has had abroad, but you wouldnt call him a stay at home fighter.

Dont you worry about what the point is. Thats for me to concern myself with

Kessler crossed the pond and fought a live opponent who wasn't 40+. Compared to Joe, that makes him look like a world beater.

I do have some questions about geographic rivalries in the UK, though. Which regions have sports rivalries with each other, and which are the most heated? For example, in the States New York and Boston are rivals in pretty much everything, as are San Francisco and Los Angeles.

    Does that happen over there?

Kessler travelled more, I believe? But not much more - all his fights up to Zaghes were almost invariably in Copenhagen?

But my thinking is that he was a bit stupidly brave after he started winning titles. Hes a bit thick to be blunt! A bit too far right of cocky in my estimate to accept fights with decent foreign opponents without some kind of rematch clause at home. From what I've seen he seems to lack ringsmarts too. He still isnt much of a traveller, though hes not yet finished his career so its maybe a little premature to judge him.

Calzaghe was a smarter man - he didnt fall for that trap. Zaghes was smarter inside and outside the ring, in fact.

Not Calzaghes fault that so many Americans ducked him.

In 47 fights Kessler has travelled 4 times to Australia, Wales, Germany and America.
Calzaghe in 46 fights travelled to America, Germany, America again and Denmark, not to mention other countries in the UK that many try and deny count like Scotland and England, both more than once.

Now when Calzaghe travelled he took on the best LHW champ, the 45-1 interim champ, Jones the #6 LHW and a little known fighter because a rated American fighter pulled out.

Kessler travelled and fought unrated beat nobody at the time Ward, Haussler, Mundine the former and future SMW champ and the best SMW ever.

Both have proven themselves on the road against world class opponents, but many who dont think Kessler is a stay at home fighter but think Calzaghe is dont realise that in less fights Calzaghe travelled more
