Is he really fighting Przemyslaw Saleta? If so Golota wins this one easily, and will retire with a win :D

That was one of my favorite Golota fights. Either that one or the rematch. That's when Golota won our hearts.

Would be nice for Golota to go out with a win. Particularly by TKO. But these days Golota is so shot I might even give Jack Basting a decent chance at beating him.

Yeah. He was painfully slow and had nothing left in terms of punch resistance.

With his slow hands, he can't get started before eating flush shots. He has terrible reflexes now, too. Golota just flat out aged poorly! I mean he still had a little something left when he fought Byrd, and then I think his athleticism went into rapid decline.

Even in the Ruiz fight, he had seemed like he slowed down a bit from the Byrd fight.

By the time he decided to comeback after the Brewster debacle, I think he fought Bates first? And then I remember the fight with McBride where Golota got rocked hard early, and actually had some shaky moments before switching to the southpaw stance and rocking McBride (still think they could have let that one go a bit longer).

That's why the Mollo fight was such a spectacular win! Local rival, winning by overcoming adversity for the first time ever. It would have been a brilliant note to end on--AND I KNEW IT AT THE TIME. Everything following that has been bad.

I still remember you pushing for the Mollo fight to be the way he ended his career and looking back on it I agree.

He should be able to polish off Saleta though and it would be a nice career ending fight considering all the talk between the 2 men through the media in the 90-00's

Anyone know why Bowe pulled out of their MMA fight? Money? Bowe's mental health? I saw video of Bowe at the presser and it was scary to hear him talk. It was like hearing a 5 year old with profound developmental delays.

Was it an MMA fight? I'm still not even sure what kind of combat that was supposed to be, and I'm still baffled it wasn't boxing all along!

For the better for both fighters. Golota wrestling Bowe would have been a circus act.

The Saleta fight is a much better idea and a nice way for both fighters to have their fare-well fight. Win or lose. It's not even about the result of the fight, but the meaning OF the fight.

    But Golota better win......lol

It was supposed to be some sort of MMAish cage match. I don't even know. But it was a joke. Very happy it's not happening.

That is a good question as to why they just didn't make it a boxing match... maybe they figured Bowe taking 1 more Gołota right hand just might kill him.

Golota started looking like **** as far back as the Orlin Norris fight. Without question, the injured shoulder in the 1999 car accident is what ruined him. But it seemed his 3 year time away from boxing rejuvenated him and he looked pretty good against Byrd although still years removed from his prime. Against Ruiz he looked so stiff. It was very frustrating to watch cuz a prime Golota could have EASILY controled Ruiz on the outside with his once great jab. In fact even Larry Merchant had commented on that. Then it just got worse and worse and worse...

Anytime I decide to watch a Golota fight it's usually pre-Orlin Norris when he still had speed, head movement, good power and of course that great jab. Any fight after Grant and it's just too frustrating to watch, he's just a shell of what he used to be in the later fights.

Hell even in the Lennox Lewis fight Golota at least threw a couple of good jabs as he had Lewis backed up in a corner! Lame ass fight to watch but at least we got a glimpes of that once great jab of his.
