Was Joe Frazier considered a monster puncher?

I'm curious about this. George Foreman's old trainer said Frazier had the power to stop a truck yet no one hardly ever comments on his power. When someone brings up the discussion of Foreman or Shavers it always goes to their amazing punching power. Yet when someone talks about Frazier it always goes to how great his left hook was but not how powerful it was. Should Frazier be classified as a dangerous puncher?

Frazier was a big hitter, yes. Though not like Shavers or Foreman.

I'd compare his power to be between that of Norton and Foreman actually. Joe often took a lot of time, he worked his opponents over the course of the fight.

I'd say Joe's endurance and stamina played as much a part in his style as his power. He liked Henry Armstrong and you can see why in the way he fights.

Exactly. The energy and fitness requirements to make that style work at that level are absurd to say the least.

He was a very hard puncher, but he was a class below people like Shavers, Foreman, Liston and Tua.

Broke his left arm leaving it crooked - apparently making his left hook special.

My understanding is he had power in both hands and his 6 inch left hook was what knocked out people, it wasn't a big long punch like foreman or shavers
