Groves' and DeGale's careers moving along very slowly since their fight?

No doubt. It was pretence as he had the Steiglitz fight. Anderson is a potential banana skin and was given the slip.

The reason Degale hasn't fought is his contract for purse as we know. I suppose Groves is similar in that respect. I'd sooner be paid less and fight more often than not at all.

Degale is interesting because he is a good fighter, if he tightened his defence he'd get a strap imho. Groves needs to push on and fight as often as possible. I'd look for Magee personally.

Thought George was on a 3 fight deal with Wazza? Paul Smith being one...then US fight so i guess two more?

But he really needs to kick on. Wasted the Degale exposure as casuals were all over that. fighting a good old TBA in his next fight aint going to help.

Steglitz would be a ideal fight to get him on world level. beats him comfortable for me.

I would imagine the deal that Groves signed with FWP was for a decent sum. So when he faced Smith and for the December 15th show he will be very well paid.

But Hennesey and Hearn would have probably been better choices. Groves fighting on channel 5 of the back off the DeGale win would have made him a huge name.

Frank works in years rather than fights- I thought the Groves deal was for two years. After his next fight Khan is free to fight on whatever channel he wants which could mean another hook up with Frank.

Groves has just got married, think he's taking a break for a little while.

I assume it's Golden boy who have an interest in Groves, is he contracted for a certain amount of fights over there or what?

Matchroom still wanted Groves despite the US stuff.

Fast Eddie won't work with GBP.

Or rather.... he'd sooner avoid it, and has enough fighters to keep him occupied.

Groves is on that horrible position currently of being just below World Level- he needs to work himself into a mandatory position in the next year. Of course, that would mean keeping busy which could be an issue for him.

I think Degales move will be great for him. Fat Mick is keeping young Chris fairly active so if Degale stays as the headline on these smaller shows he'll get plenty of ring time under his belt. All this while gaining exposure and building his record. There is also Furys outings available to showcase him too.
Degale will be over to Sky once he's rebuilt his reputation on terrestrial TV.

You can earn good money just being a boxer without actually fighting. That might be one of the problems with Groves

Well, the fight this weekend does put things into perspective. It was DeGaele's second underwhelming performance against sub par opposition in his last three fights. I'm a little sceptic about Groves too now.
