Is sugar Ray Leonard the greatest welterweight?

    As the title suggest is he, guy fought all the way up to light heavyweight in an effort to find competition, beat all 3 other members of marvelous 4, and the way he moves and hits, his speed, his endurance, makes me wonder if any one could convincingly beat him in a best of 3 series.

    I wished he did fight aaron hawk time pryor though, it probably be one of the greatest fights ever.

    I'd favour Robinson.

    Other than that the only man I might have said is Hearns, but we all know what happened there.

    The quality of his wins fill the criteria, but quantity is not in his favor. Too few fights at that weight class to rate him above some of the other candidates.

    It isn't that slim, though it doesn't quite match the depth of other great Welters. He did wipe out nearly half the division at the time prior to winning the title against Benitez: Mayweather, Shields, Gant, Ranzany, Price.

    Much rather see him against Curry. Pryor was way to open to come good against a larger sharp shooter like Leonard, but Curry matches Leonard for speed, eclipse him in terms of technique and perhaps in power as well. Leonard would have to rely on smarts and guts, which he had as much of as any fighter ever, in this one.

    Ray would spend too much time thinking about Robinson. He'd get stung early, wait out an adjustment then either lose on points or try a Hearns/Kalule-esque throwing of the kitchen sink and find he walked into the wrong ****ing kitchen.

    Robinson 11-4/10-5 type decision.
