I'm not saying I know for sure, just saying I've heard that a few times. It seems feasible enough that if they sparred often enough, Holyfield might have been KO'd, KD'd, or seriously hurt at least once. Crazy things happen in sparring- Tony Ayala Jr. tooled Pipino Cuevas back when Ayala was a kid basically, Quincy Taylor almost KO'd Sugar Ray Leonard during sparring leading up to the Hagler fight too. And you never know, Tua himself got KO'd by Savon in the amateurs back when he was younger even with the headgear. Holyfield had gotten KTFO by Riddick Bowe not too long before the Tyson fight; to act like Tua couldn't have done it is pretty foolish. Then again, you're well-established as an obnoxious ***** in these parts, so I don't expect a reasonable response from you.
I an,its not beyond the realms of possibility. McCall knocked Tyson in sparring. Those things happen in sparring from time to time
Even Hagler got dropped in a sparring session. http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=266&dat=19860307&id=x_QwAAAAIBAJ&sjid=l90FAAAAIBAJ&pg=4881,911524
Most people in this forum are clueless as to anything that happened over 5 years ago. Holyfield sparring Tua was well over 10 years ago. ......Tua was not the fighter that Holyfield had problems with in preperation for the first Tyson fight. The fighter that was givng Holyfield much problems in sparring, I forget his first name, but his last name I'm pretty sure is Bell. He was a fighter that fought great in sparring but did'nt so so well under the real pressure of a full fight. Anyways, it was early in training camp that Bell was dominating Holyfield in sparring. When training camp closed for Tyson, it was the other way around. Holyfield had found his form and it was he who was dominating every sparring partner including Bell. Tua was never reported to have done well vs Holyfield in any training camp!
Listen, Ayala toying with Pipino has been speculated many times in articles. Tua knocking Holyfield even down I've never heard of or read. If you could provide a link that would be great, but I"m 99.9 percent certain you cannot. Listen, I've hear that John Ruiz knocked Lennox Lewis out cold during a sparring session and thats why Lewis never wanted to face him. My dillemma however is that " I heard!" I have no facts or links to an article that substantiates what I heard. For me to start posting that I heard Lewis got KTFO by Ruiz, I'd have to at least substantiate it with somebody, anybody associated with boxing even alluding to that it might have happened. Without it, I have nothing, just like you have noting when it comes to Tua allegedlly by you knocking Holyfield out.
McCall knocking down Tyson has been confirmed and substantiated by boxing people who were there to witness it. Not the case here with Tua-Holyfield. Fighters get knocked down all the time in sparring, great fighters. But this crap that "I heard" without any substantiation from anyone or any article is a bunch of crap that does'nt belong here. I'm not going to start spewing that John Ruiz KTFO Lennox Lewis in sparring if I dont at least have a quote form anyone in boxiing that might have been there or at least had a connection to people who may have witnessed the sparring session. Spadafora dominating Mayweather in sparring is'nt heresay, there were actual people there to witness it.
yeah I wouldn't be shocked if Tua did maybe knock him down but rumors are meaningless unless provided with a reliable source.
Nice video. Any word on Tua's comeback later this year? I recall at the Barrett vs Cameron fight he claimed he'd be back in December or potentially the start of 2013. He'd have a lot of work to do in terms of getting in shape but I suppose he's still 2 years younger than Vitali...
Tua wasn't even better than post prison tyson. one handed, average speed, no skill. Great left hand but sucked at landing it. Holyfield would have one a dominating 12 round fight over tua
he didn't suck at landing it he just ate jabs for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and wasn't a very good boxer. But he knocked out Ruiz so he has a place in my heart.
Na they looked pretty even with Tua throwing some nice double, triple hooks, uppers, and occasional right hand while Holy controlled the distance with his jab and occasional right. It looked like Holy purposely wanted to infight with Tua. Tua was massive back then!
This sparring is not fair! Holyfield was wearing headgear which prevents him from using his best weapon!
