Esteban De Jesús managed to. i have duran as the best lightweight ever but that doesent mean every lightweight who ever lived would fall short against duran

and chavez is thought to be the best mexican boxer to ever live so i thought it was worth a poll

DeJesus won that fight at 140, actually. ;)

Chavez has become immensely underrated in terms of his skills on here, but aside from maybe body punching, Duran is just that much better. He's much more slippery and fluid with his movement, better defensively, a more accurate counterpuncher, and is getting off quicker than Chavez at 135 lbs. Even Ray Leonard remarked after their first fight (at 147 obviously) how ridiculously difficult Duran was to hit clean. He doesn't have great defense for an inside, pressure fighter... He has Great Defense, period.

    Duran on points.

no possible way does Duran take out Chavez at 135lbs. Chavez was not only one of the most durable fighters ever, but also had very good defense.

that being said, Duran would win on points, but each round would be hard fought. Think Duran-Palomino, except more competitive. The infighting level would be about equal, but Duran would take the upper hand seeing as he could tag Chavez coming in and also counter a bit on the inside as well. Duran was a mauler on the inside, he didn't constantly attack you but would grab a little and simply wear you down.

It would be the best display of skilled infighting in the history of boxing.

no contest. duran would wipe the floor with chavez. when duran was 41 he wanted to fight chavez, but chavez would not.

Duran's infighting style was much different than Chavez's. he would grab and maul a lot, wasnt super active. Chavez was one of the best at being able to create distance and go to work with short punches that were difficult to counter. The reason Whitaker was able to nullify a lot of Chavez's infighting is because he would attack a lot and put Chavez on the defensive...same with Meldrick Taylor. Duran didnt attack that often on the inside, especially at lightweight, and Chavez would have been able to go to work more.

Chavez could and will at least maintain equal footing when it comes to the inside fighting..

Duran's a bit quicker, better defensively, bigger puncher and a higher boxing IQ. Chavez is better inside. I have Duran by decision in a war.

Manos. Ez work. As good on the inside, better at range, better at distance, better defense, lateral movement.

I would bet the house tbh, and win a **** ton off of all the maheecans betting on JC :smoke
