Probably provides a better gauge of where fighters are really at. The alphabet titles have diluted almost all truth.

I have to tell you - I fought that corner pretty hard in the discussions that ironed the rankings out. The feeling was that Marquez hadn't done enough at that weight to be ranked highly. I was pushing for #1 for what that's worth

The charter does state that NOBODY will be ranked at a given weight based upon name, or previous achievements at other weights. You'll be ranked according to your achievments at that weight. Now I welcome any foibles or inconsistencies where this is concerned with open arms.

As I posted on boxing.com today:

Well the will is there. If it doesn’t work out as we hope it won’t be for want of trying. Speaking from a purely personal perspective, I see this as boxing’s internet connunities first serious push at seriously ranking fighters in a sensible, cohesive way. That’s why the contirbution of sites like boxing.com is so crucial. IF we get to where we want to be, it’s only going to be one way: Together. We have no title to bequeath in the sense that we present a belt, so our target isn’t to be fighters but the most forgotten of all components in boxing - The Fans. The first pit-stop on the road to success, perhaps the last pit-stop is going to be having fans google our rankings to find out what the stae of play is in divisional boxing, not the WBA’s or The Ring’s, but ours. That calls for transparency and community.

ESB is showing an interest in carrying our rankings also, so hopefully our lists will become the "offical" rankings at Eastside.
    I’m hopeful.

..So, shouldn't Marquez be ranked @ welter as well??? I mean, his next fight is there, at 147, and he already fought, and beat, pacquiao at it according to many of us... I think there's an argument for him to be ranked #2 in there..

I don't think so, no; he's fought twice at that weight in the last three years and has 2 losses. But after his next effort...let's just say I hope so :D

    The controversial 140lbs rankings.

    2 Lucas Matthysse ARG-

    6 Zab Judah USA-
    7 Juan Manuel Marquez MEX-
    8 Erik Morales MEX-
    9 Olusegun Ajose NIG-

Why is Floyd ranked as a welterweight given the inactivity rule?

    :-( Hopkins.

 But they still bandy about "Eurobum" and "Eurolevel". It's like listening to the squeaky fellow from Kung Pow.

    That's a GOOD QUESTION.

My guess (and i'm checking on it) is that fighter are only removed from the rankings when they are entirely inactive or have announced, "officialy" that they are not moving back down.

Where else would you want to put him?

Also, has the TRB adjusted any rankings with prior robberies/questionable decisions being taken into consideration?
