I checked the Wikipedia entry for 'jab' and it didn't list the rangefinding jab. I added a quick description, see [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jab[/ame] This content is protected I hyperlinked and referenced to a good example animated .gif This content is protected What do you guys think? Accurate description?
No kind of dedication or power behind it. Don't see how you can be wobbled by a range finding jab lmao. Don't think Tomasz vs Klit jab was one really... There are better examples.
I think though Mosely occasionally used the rangefinder jab to great effect, especially in dialing in his overhand rights against Oscar he also tended to use the patting rangefinders too much and it cost him against Forrest, Cotto, and Wright when more assertive power jabs would have made a big difference.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZdLJAYzV9M#t=1m50s Watch how Hearnz knocked Cuevaz out. He uses a noncommittal jab to bait an attempted left hook counter out of Cuevaz and timed it by following up with a right hand. Mosley also used plenty of rangefinders against Floyd, but Floyd would counter it with a hook every time.
Wath Floyd va Cotto, Floyd uses it before coming in with the right hook on numerous occasions He also used it to set up the straight right vs Ortiz
It's great you identify its effectiveness in setting up the overhand rights which caused the KO of so many opponents...I think it was later in his career that he relied solely on the pitty pat jab-overhand right combo...he used to be much more creative in setting up the right with his jab, going to the body and head up and down with great speed to bring the guard down and distract from the bomb that eventually dropped them.

Wikipedia is probably wondering why the entire country of Poland is flooding their bandwidth right now.
