the frenchmans style reminded me of Carson Jones come forward style raised gloves take what you must to get your punches in , wear down your opponent style plus the tough chin. A very good test. the french man is underated

His opponent was far better than I expected him to be- if he is out in December expect a known opponent with a less than stellar record to allow DeGale to get a KO. He has to stop backing up on ropes and fight at distance to succeed IMO. Technically he isn't bad and his chin is relatively decent.

I thought DeGale won comfortably; however the french guy was decent.

i hear ya, but its not as simple as many keep thinking, Guys like this french dude , Carson Jones , Lee purdy, they consistently come at you and will take punches to get inside and try and wear you down with persistant pressure, using a tight guard stacked with a granite chin , they dont give boxers the liberty of space to apply their skill set with ease, they cut the distance well, they make the boxer move non stop and block and take punches making the boxer drain their stamina. Styles make fights...

    :deal

I dont get how anyone could watch Degale & Eubanks performances last night & think Eubank jnr would be a favourite???

Degale to me is a flawed genuis, Eubank Jnr is just flawed.

Degale reminds me of Ricky Burns, you can see the natural talent & the heart is there, & with the right people behind him the guy can go far. Hes a young man, & only going to get stronger. The knockouts will come if he keeps active & remains patient, cos you can see his punch picking is breathtaking at times.

People go on about Kell Brook like hes the new Naz, but Degale IMO when he unleashes those spectacular bursts reminds me more of Naz, for a guy of chunkys size thats a big compliment!

Right now Degale vs Eubank jnr is a mismatch, but I hope it happens soon, just cos it would be a massive occasion for terrestrial TV & get the nation talking! Expect a mismatch like naz v Steve Robinson though if it comes off...

Not much power seemingly and has too many bad habits that he can't seem to get rid of - I thought he started off pretty well, jabbing etc but as the fight wore on he stopped using the jab, was slapping and went back to holding his hands way down low looking for a big looping left hand.

He can always improve of course, who knows. Obviously a decent boxer, just not as good as he thinks he is. . .

I felt that James didn't move enough. He took a lot of right hands and sat on the ropes. He didn't seem to have the movement to get himself off the ropes. A lot of his work at distance was landing on gloves and he was getting clipped coming in.

He did look a different class when he moved around the ring at times but it was short bursts and he was ready to head for the ropes perhaps because the Frenchman hits harder than was expected. Still given he has not fought for a while he has got the win.

By the way did you see Jim McDonnell singing the national anthem at the start of the fight!
