The youtube clips avaliable on the man are not very impressive to say the least, but then when you look at his record and who he beat it boggles the mind. Gene Tunney who is one of the greatest boxing technicians of all time, a real marvel to watch and study, when you hear Greb beat him while outweighed, past prime and blind in one eye..again it boggles the mind.

As for this fight as Seamus said who the **** knows.

Reports and descriptions by the tons are just as good with the other factors I mentioned adding up to a pretty accurate picture!

no they're not, atleast not imo.

Debating the outcome of a fight involving a fighter noone here has ever seen is just, meh.

Greb achieved great things and he gets his due credit but here we'retrying to match someone noone has ever seen with a man who is easily identified as one of the best filmed fighters ever. It's a fruitless task imo.

Luf, we will never see films of Harry Greb in action...SO WHAT ?
We may never see a tornado as an eyewitness but we judge the severity of yje hurricane by it's aftermath of damage done...Same with Harry Greb...We read of his incredible record ,beating every Hall of Fame fighters he fought. Most of them taller, heavier and stronger, but NOT TOUGHER...
There are so many VIVID accounts of Harry Greb's fights ,hundreds of them by top notch writers describing his greatness, stamina, enormous speed
and ability to throw volleys of punches in any opponents mush, and never
giving them the ball...They were busy protecting themselves from his non stop attack...Virtually all his opponents declared Greb the best fighter they ever faced for a damn good reason, HE WAS...Sure it is nice to see a film, but even seeing a film of any old fighter tells nothing about that oldtimer.
What fight was on the film is important...For example if 100 years from njow the onlky film available of Ray Robinson was a film of Ray getting his
ass kicked by Randy Turpin in London or Ralph Tiger Jones, the fans likely would conclude that Robinson was not that good as the "oldtimers" said.,,.They could not be more wrong...Harry Greb did amazing things in the ring for him to be lauded as the greatest...What 160 pound MW could fight 45 bouts in one year, and win THEM ALL. What MW could lick the BEST Lightheavyweights and heavyweights of his time, spotting them
10-35 pounds and ONE EYE to boot ? No other than Harry Greb with 300 bouts...Cheers.

If there was some means of actually putting these two in the ring together, i very much doubt thistle and burt would want to see it happen

Greb was the fastest fighter that Jack Johnson and Jack Dempsey ever saw. And I think they saw a lot more fighters than anyone on this board.

Maybe handspeed, but Greb had supreme foot speed that would somehow
find Harry behind his opponent...Roy Jones was IMMENSELY talented, no doubt and today I am a BIG fan of Roy also as a perceptive commentator
on boxing bouts on tv...But any fair boxing analyst must conceed that Roy
did not come close to Greb in the amount of fights STAYING ON TOP...
Why Harry went about 290 bouts without EVER being stopped ,and with only ONE EYE that made him compensate holding his head at an angle to SEE his opponent the last years of his surreal like career...
ESB posters, THINK of the courage Greb had when blind in one eye, he entered the ring a hundred or more times, KNOWING that one blow to his remaining orbit would render him blind to his bigger opponent, and to the crowd...Think of the anxiety Greb had to overcome before every bout. Put yourself in his shoes, doing this for many years, and still dominate
your great opponents, while fearing the next punch will close your remaining eye...I rest my case !

The fighters with the fastest handspeed are essentialy born, and there is no reason to think that there could not have been a fighter as fast as Jones on 1700.

    Can't say who's faster.

Can't say who's harder to hit.

    Can't make an accurate pick.

But I guess that Jones would be too green to beat the primed Greb. Just a guess though.
