Rigo vs Mathebula...Make it happen...

Donaire said that he is not willing to fight Rigo, and it appears like he is set to fight Arce.

Personally, I don't care for this fight considering Arce has already done enough for the sport and I have no desire to see him take a beating or get brutally knocked out, but it is what it is.

Regardless, Rigo doesn't have an opponent lined up.

Donaire said that Rigo needs to build his resume up. What better way to build it up than to beat guys that Donaire has beaten in more devestating fashion.

The problem is...Rigo may not beat Mathebula.

You see, Donaire had to be very aggressive against Mathebula because Mathebula dwarfed Donaire in heigh and reach, as well as being a defensive fighter that consistantly used his legs to avoid being caught against the ropes.

The last time Rigo had an opponent that stayed outside his range and forced him to attack, he got knocked down by a jab, ran the rest of the fight, and stunk the joint out.

Now, these are the facts. Nothing against him, but people often criticize Donaire.

Well, the best way you can prove that Rigo is better is to beat Donaire's opposition more decisively. Understandably styles make fights, but Donaire has proven he has extreme versatility.

He can knock you out coming foward and and he can knock you out going backwards.

Let's see how Rigo performs going foward. Keep in mind, Rigo is shorter with a lesser reach than Donaire.

Mathebula may only get one more chance to put his name out there. If Rigo knocks on his door, Mathebula will take this fight.

The question is, would Rigo take this fight?

 

Perhaps, but Mathebula is a bigger threat, but there is also a far higher chance that the fight is unwatchable.

Darchinyan would be a good matchup. He's declining quite a big, but he does still pack a punch.

If he can hurt Rigo, he has a decent chance of winning. He's still highly skilled, but he's clearly declining and he's much more hittable.

I like this fight too though.

 

Understandably, the fight would be horribly boring, but it is a very difficult stylistic match up for Rigo, who may not win the fight.

He would certainly have to take more risks than he has in previous fights, and considering he's been out on his feet from a jab...

Well, you get the picture.

 

Exactly.

And Rigo is a defensive oriented fighter, and Mathebula is not reckless, so how a lot of people are picking Rigo by KO, I don't know.
