    Nope. Another GBP-TR conflict.

Uh, Ramos was the WBA titlist and a top 5 rated fighter in the division. He might have even been ranked as high as #3. Rigo also held the interim title and was a mandatory for Ramos' belt. HBO tried to hype Ramos because he is a Haymon fighter. It was an easy fight and a good chance to get a belt against a top 5 fighter in the division.

The Casey fight was only due to promotional and Visa issues (why else would he be fighting in Ireland, which seems like the place where Cuban defectors go these days).

Marroquin is a solid fighter for the division and Kennedy isn't horrible. These were the guys Top Rank gave him. What the **** else is he supposed to do, exactly? :patsch

Think you misread. Neither of those guys is promoted by GB.

    Huh?

Marquez is a Top Rank fighter. Mijares is under Zanfer Promotions' stable, iirc. Mijares was supposed to fight Donaire earlier this year. I don't see how GBP has anything to do with this, unless I'm missing something? :?

Most of Donaire's opponents haven't done anything lately despite what Donaire apologists will try to have you think. Nashioka is 36 and hadn't fought in a year.

i'd rather hear that kind of answer than say, "insert_name your next!" then proceed to ducking that fighter

On another level? What was so impressive last night? He beat an old man who was contemplating RETIREMENT before last night's fight; not a Mayweather retirement, but leaving boxing. Almost everyone recognizes Rigo as the most dangerous opponent in that division.

The stuff coming out of Donaire's mouth is just ridiculous. He's speaking in 3rd person now. Nonito this, Nonito that. He's starting to sound dumber than his fugly wife.

Why the heck was Donaire headlining that fight? Everyone was watching Rios v Alvarado.

Bottom line Donaire won't consider fighting the guy rated 2nd by Ring and current titlist, and his reasoning was "I can't concentrate against a guy like that"? FOH.

If Mathebula is worthy, so is Rigondeaux.

These type of arguments suck, because Donaire has fought guys who are just plain awful and some guys who were mediocre when he fought them. Yet Rigondeaux is said to not deserve a shot at Donaire? He hasn't done enough? Looking at Rigondeaux's resume with Ramos, Kennedy, and Cordoba. Compare that to the recent resume of all of Donaire's recent opponents. Rigondeaux is more than deserving. You won't find a Donaire opponent who fought the equivalent of those three in that same time frame.

No different than Ward telling Bute to "fight other guys first" even though he was willing to fight him wherever Ward wanted :-(

This post makes you sound like a bitter dickhead, you know that. I wasn't saying Rigo isn't a threat. But he's not the only guy at 122, and neither is Donaire. Donaire has proven himself already over a couple of divisions. And Rigo hasn't actually proven much. So as it stands, Donaire has no reason YET to do Rigo a favor and help put him on the map. That's up to Rigo to do for hinself.
