What kept him from achieving his potential in the professional ranks?

  2. His reluctance to get into a fight.

The BBC deal sullied his position with a lot of people. Promoting himself annoyed quite a few people as well.

I believe he did reach his potential. It's not like he was really progressing well and got derailed by a freak injury or something, he just wasn't very good.

We expect a lot from an Olympic Gold medallist, and we assume that the amateur success is just the start of something special, but in Audley's it just didn't happen.

The guy has a degree and actually seems to quite a pleasant guy, if he was an uneducated twat with a short fuse then maybe he might have achieved something...

Fighting professionally just never came naturally to Audley, no heart.

It did not go wrong, he went really, really well for him.

The first time he needed to show something was in Sydney. And for one glorious fortnight, he delivered. After that it did not matter, he got his reward. And whenever it went all wrong, he could point to Sydney, and some would believe he could turn it all around.

Some boxers just aren't cut out to be pros. But although he didn't live up to the expectations, he made a sh*tload of money while being avarage.
First his BBC contract, and later with his encounter (won't call it a fight) with salesman Haye.

Amd I won't be surprised if he manages to get another big payday around a year from now. Because he always seems to get the "maybe this time" treatment for whatever reason.
The poll I put up here said a lot. 1 out of 5 here expected Audley to WIN!!!! Can you imagine that?! :!:

Heart, he really thought it was going to be quite easy, and was going to be world champ without much of a problem, when he discovered it was not easy he lost the desire, he really did not want to put in all the hard work, and the effort it really needed.

he did become european champ though, and fought fora world title so in all really good really fir anyone to become a euro champ in their chosen profession,

    still a wanker though
