?? And who has Ricky Burns beat? And dont say (past his sell by date) Katsidis. Ricky Burns fans need to calm down and wait for him to beat someone with a pulse before makin ridiculous predictions. Gettin excited about him beating up shams is a bit pathetic.
It is an old fashioned question of distance: can Burns keep Rios on the outside? Considering more accomplished fighters such as Alvarado and Miguel Acosta were unable to do so, I doubt Burns would be able to. However, I would really like to study Burns footwork a little more.
Alvarado nearly got stopped by Prescott and was lucky he gassed, Burns victim Mitchell practically shut Prescott out. Interestingly Prescott also beat Abril who won every round against Rios... Alvarado is a bad comparison with Burns tho he wanted to go to war, Burns would keep him at range and frustrate Rios all night long.
and if burns was he'd be in the states building up a guy like burns as you are is exactly why promoters like war+en hold back the careers of his fighters for hometown $$$ and its also why you'll be making fantasy matchups about guys under frankie's sway (cleverley is a prime example) but the fights will never happen
Good fight. slightly favour Rios at 140 but it's a difficult style match up for Rios if Burns has a chin (seems to be OK in that department but hasn't fought anyone worthwhile to test it so not sure). I'd l;ove to see it and would be rooting for Burns, he has a chance.
Burns is an excellent boxer. I don't think he will reign for a long time but he is great to watch. Brilliant jab, decent defence and very underrated. He's also the pride of the beautiful town of Coatbridge.:rofl
