IMO yes. I kinda think he made Turpin famous by losing to him. He was a little inconsistent at the weight as well. I can see you rating Ray over Greb though if you count him beating Lamotta and Olson all those times. But did he really need to beat up Olson all those times. and Lamotta? :verysad

    Cmon mang,

Did Britton and T.K. Lewis need to fight 20 times?

He kept fighting Olson because Olson kept fighting his way to the top against the division and was the champion at one point, earning his own entry. LaMotta was a perrenial Top 3 MW guy and those fights with eachother were good draws.

So are you satisfied with the reasoning for all the LaMotta/Olson bouts or what? :verysad He has more names at 160 than he even does at Welterweight! Even though he beat two of the Top 5 ATGs there.

I have Ray Leonard top in my list of fighters from 1980's - Present. But I would have Ali and Duran ahead of him if I went back into the 60s and 70s, so Leonard would possibly be at 3. Although I admit I don't know enough about a lot of the other fighters in the 60s and 70s to make a fair list yet, but Leonard would almost certianly be top 5

Just a hunch, but he fought Olson the first time because he was a top rated MW and Robinson was yet to get a title shot. He fought him the second time when Robinson was champion for the same reason as the former (a good champ fights the best). He fought Olson a third time because Olson had the title when Robinson came out of retirement and he fought him the fourth time because he was giving the former champ a rematch. Unfortunately for Carl, he was KO'ed in 3 of 4 meetings. Robinson's punches seemingly got more devastating when he went up to be a legit middleweight based on his notable KO wins at the weight against name guys.

You see some of the others.. Guys getting cartoonishly Pulverized.
