After re-watching the Rios-Alvarez fight...Rios dominated.

who the **** is Alvarez?

 

If you are referring to the Alverado fight no 1 dominated that fight at all

Interesting cuz I thought Rios took 1-4 and had the same reaction. I thought Mike was turning it around and was kind of surprised Rios got the stoppage when he did because of it. I watched it via Polsat so it was the same as no commentary for me.

I wouldn't say dominated, as he got hit waay too often and cleanly IMHO. But Rios certainly controlled the fight, took Alvarado out of his comfort zone and made him fight Rios' fight. Was a great fight!

If the ref had let him land 4 or 5 big shots maybe. But to me looked like Alvarado, although hurt, was actively defending, on the move, his hands were up and he was looking to clinch when the stoppage came. He wasn't defenseless. Now it is quite possible the ref did indeed save him from a hard KO, but I thought with the fight going the way it was, a back and forth affair, that the ref jumped the gun just a shade. He stopped it the first time one guy was legitimately hurt. Certainly not a terrible stoppage, but I didn't like it.

You guys would be howling if it had been Rios, no?

Anyway, Rios did not dominate this fight. It was a hard earned win.

I gotta disagree on the "actively defending". He was going by instinct and training but couldn't stop a punch. He needed to take a knee since there is no standing 8 to buy time.
