Burt..very true. carpenters right hand was one of the best...fast and tricky. You know what you are talking about unlike many on here. Surprised the lack of knowledge here. the aol boxing boards were much better in this regard....lots of posters who spent time watching the fighters in question and studying boxing history. I've only counted a handful on here that have any idea what they are talking about.

Burt, ofcourse you might be right!

What I'm saying is that you don't have to be a Dempsey hater to pick Wlad!

    You are so right, sir!

This is my favorite Carpenters performance. And look at that right hand carrying the whole effort, punctuating this truly great hit!

Luf, of COURSE you don't have to be a Dempsey hater to choose Vlad over Dempsey...I might not be Einstein, but I am astute enough to differentiate
between opinions and sheer hatred that Dempsey's name evokes on ESB
by biased people who in their sheer egotism disregard what the great boxing historians and fighters, who SAW him in his prime, and raved about him, but ignore this and think that in their twisted mind's THEY know better...You would think Dempsey was Rasputin and Benedict Arnold ,so hateful these misguided posters are....

    Does it really matter, though?

Dempsey got hit quite a bit. He also bit down and fought like a rabid pitbull, and kicked the hell out of people.

He was a brute. A monster. Those guys are easier to hit than most simply because they are in your face trying to murder you, not hiding.

Not going to call the man fearless outside the ring, when that is blatantly not true.

But in the ring, with gloves on, he was an animal. He'll get that credit from me.

he thinks that only youngsters with an axe to grind can pick Wlad to beat Dempsey.

Atleast your objective enough to see this isn't the case.
