Exactly. Best line up last time out and the clapped out piece of junk still stunk the joint out. Rapidly bordering on the unwatchable.
Got to be honest I hate being negative but I am more inclined than ever to agree with you, its old and very average now. Hearns are great business people and I would assume he has other ideas in the pipeline, not sure what they would be however. I quite fancy a four fighter tournament - 4 real good fighters - The extra purse from the other 4 fighters should mean the losing semi finalists get a good wedge and therefore the quality could perhaps go up Semi finals over 6 rounds final over 6 rounds Match that in with a couple of area/english title fights or perhaps a british or commonwealth strap, couple of his new stable stars on the bill as well. Its not great but its different and thats what it needs tbh. BTW Eddie if you are reading this I have a few more ideas mate but it will cost you. :bbb:bbb
I like the idea of Prizefighter if it gives guys out the title picture a chance to win a good pay day and get their foot back in the door of the British/European title scene. That said I think when the money is attracting Crolla, Matthews in to the same tournament then a change to the 4 person format with more rounds as suggested above would be a much better way. Some of our best boxers being wasted in 3 round penalty shoot-outs clearly aint making the fans happy so some tinkering is needed. Btw despite the need of a bit of luck in this, McEwan should be winning fairly comfortably hopefully the odds are half decent as he's terribly underrated imo
Can't find odds on it yet, likely be the days in the run up before bookies make it available to bet on. It is Prizefighter though, anything can happen, even Audley won a few fights.
Never used to be a big fan of Prizefighter but after having a cheeky £20 on Flanagan @ 10-1 last time out (just to make it a bit more exciting to watch) I'v had a change of heart. Seriously though I think PF has a place because it is aimed at drawing in new fans (whether it has actually achieved that is debatable). Everything is seen as entertainment, with most sports the belief is that people have very short attention spans and limited time which means the majority of sports are looking to shorten playing time for quicker results basically fast-food sport, examples being cricket, snooker, rugby even formula one. Casual fans don't want to wait for years to fights to be made, boxers to make their way up the rankings, not to mention the politics involved. So in that respect it has a purpose, the standard ain't great and it certainly doesn't highlight the best qualities of the art of boxing but all sports are adapting to the differing wants and needs of the general public, and in order to survive boxing also has to evolve IMO.
Bored of Prizefighter now. They keep getting worse and worse because tactics are coming into it more and more. Only really works, for me, at the heavier weights because people just want to see knockdowns not 7 (?) tactical battles.
I think people need to stop mincing. Yes it is getting a bit stale, and yes the action can be a bit **** at times but look at it from a fighters perspective. It’s great for them. You’ve got old guys, young guys, washed up guys. Fighters who have lost their way, all getting a shot to manoeuvre themselves back into contention. And it’s a decent pay day for them to. Its not as if Eddie has a massive stable, and Prizefighter is taking up TV slots to his fighters detriment.
they need less of them ,as it think its run its course tbh . the idea with four fghters doing a semi of 6 and a final of 6 is a pretty good idea
