Dawson is not a throwback fighter, I'm a big fan of Dawson but most of the time he's full of crap.

He avoiding fighting Adrian Diaconu for three years, and dropped his WBC belt in 2008 to avoid fighting him in Romania. That's not a throwback fighter. We all know what happened he fought Tarver for the IBF title instead, and Chad eventually fought Adrian in May 2011.

Being a throwback fighter doesn't mean rushing into a fight. He rushed in the Ward fight showing way too many flaws against Hopkins. I thought Dawson fought very poorly against Hopkins in the second fight, and he barley won, I had Chad winning by a round.

He fired Emanuel Steward after one fight and hired an inexperienced trainer in Scully. He fired Floyd Mayweather Sr two weeks before fighting Epifanio Mendoza (probably the reason why Floyd is still pissed at Chad). Being irresponsible and making reckless decisions is not a throwback fighter.

Great. Having a hard head and not knowing when to quit or having a corner with enough guts to stop you just means you are just collecting brain damage. I think most fighters would rather remember they were fighters and than not being able to remember they were tough because they have to be reminded of their name.

Yeah Dawson gets way too much flack for quitting. He had no chance to win that fight, he was getting hit by every punch that Ward threw.

lol @ Naz saying Chad isn't a throwback fighter because he quit...but calls Bernard one when he's quit multiple times, faked injuries, and in general has been a black eye to the sport for most of his career.

I agree with Nazim's point that it's not about backing out, as every human being has the right to do, but the fact he tried to blame an aging ATG for quitting and then went on to stop the fight on his own accord while still conscious.

Mother ****er has the nerve to call Hopkins a punk and a quitter when Hopkins actually had a legit injury caused by a foul and then he goes on to quit against Ward simply because Ward was getting the better of him. He clearly deserves this. :yep

Hopkins shoulder looked completely fine in the second fight against Dawson. I do question that injury.

    Dawson 1, Calzaghe, Robert Allen

When the going gets tough, Bernard gets to quitting.

Nazim, for the most part, is an idiot. The guy is so hyped and has always said stupid ****.

I think Chad stopping the fight was a great idea. He was clearly having a crisis in there and was being hurt by love taps.

I can't be too hard on another man for quitting. They're the ones getting hit. But Nazim has a point. Don't start talking **** about this and that. You quit bro. You don't get to talk ****.

That's like when Ortiz quit against Maidana (a fight he was winning btw), only to come back a few months later and say everyone was ducking him. LOL WHAT? Nah Vic, nobody was ducking you. They were just waiting for you to get your huevos back bro.

    Classic armchair boxer/critic.

Uhhhhh, is it possible that Dawson felt the results of an internal beating that you, I, Nazim, or Ward could never be able to know?

Maybe Dawson felt uneasiness, dizziness, or a particular pain in his head that he'd never felt before. And rather than dying, going to the hospital, or asking for dementia, he decided he wasn't going to score a miracle KO in the last 2 rounds to compensate for a 10+ point difference in scoring.

Don't know if you've ever fought before, but there's plenty of occasions where I or my friend are hurt far worse than we let on... and maybe have even "randomly" or "shockingly" stopped ourselves and not went on because we were the ones at the end of the punches.

Anyone calling Chad out for this is pretty stupid. Particularly Naz. He knows better. He shouldn't have taken anything personal, and Hopkins doesn't need him to rush to his defense.

Besides, Hopkins quit 5 and a half minutes into a fight from a shoulder injury after mutually illegal moves. Dawson quit 30 minutes into a fight after eating over one hundred shots. There is a difference between the situations.

Wow you must really want fighters to be all kind of ****ed up physically and mentally later on in life if you don't think they have the right to stop a professional boxing match they're taking part in.

WTF are you talking about...Dawson got the **** beaten out of him for being too slow/lethergic/weight drained/whatever, but he did not quit. He was done at the end, the ref saw it too no way that fight was going to continue. :huh
