I love JMM, but what has he done to merit being top 5 P4P?

Also a career of facing top rated fighters in each division and for years being p4p ranked then ending it with a win 2 divisions up over #1 pacquiao.

Pac had an inflated p4p rank. That much was obvious.

Getting dominated by Mayweather and then sitting around waiting for pac for the last 5 years does not make you a top 5 p4p fighter. The fact is Marquez is getting a pass for doing virtually NOTHING at 140. He's not chasing any top dogs, the risk is way too high. Again, that's not what p4p is about.

He's in the top 5 P4P because he has gut. He can down a cup of nasty urine like it's cool aid, if they bring that cup near any elite boxer they will run for their life.

Shut the F up, Marquez downing a whole cup of cofpee is more then any boxer have done in the past 5 years. The question here should be why he's not P4P # 1.

Though the p4p rankings are a joke. Marquez is still an elite fighter deserving a stand in the top 5. In my eyes I have no doubt that he can beat any fighter in his division. :bbb

jmm was number 3 p4p for the longest. martinez got his spot and i have him at number 4. he aint loss yet to me. he has to take a ass whooping or another fighter has to pass him up like ward. jmm should be 4 or 5 on every list.

    Such a naive post.

I've heard it a few times on this forum, Marquez only fights average opponents in between fighting the very best. Never mind that he is fighting and beating opponents far north of his best weight class. Marquez is not a natural at these weight classes, he has had to adapt.

Your skills are given a sterner test against opponents who are much bigger than you, and who outweigh you on fight night. Not even factoring in the guys age.

Ouch... Damn that hurt me and Im not even a Marquez fan.. Thats some serious hate..

Pretty much.. 2 master Defensive Wizards in a fight.. Marquez actually gets points for taking on Mayweather.. At the end of the day Marquez was just too small in that fight..

He shouldn't be top 5, Mayweather, Ward, Martinez, Pac and Donaire are all ahead.

Marquez has been too inactive to compete with the above names p4p

In fairness, not too many other fighters have looked non-limited when fighting Mayweather, let alone blown-up lightweights.
