LOL, now you're continuing to suck Lewis ***** just because you have a terribly biased point of view. The fight was not "very close". Vitali clearly won 4 rounds while the 2 that Lewis one could be regarded as "swing rounds". Also, all 3 judges it scored it this way so there really is no point in discussing if it was close or not because it truly wasn't. Lewis also didn't win the 5th and 6th rounds. Lewis won the 5th round but didn't do **** the entire 6th round. Throughout the fight Vitali outlanded Lewis in every punch category and also landed many more powershots. They aren't facts at all. The true fact is that Lewis got lucky. Live with that statement. It's proven after the fight too, where ***** boy refused the rematch. It just shows that if Lewis actually thought he was going to win he would have taken the fight and improved his legacy 10-fold. Instead, Lewis bitched out, retired, and had his legacy reduced to his best winning to being dominated throughout the fight and only winning on a lucky cut.
Vitali was already well known and was beating everyone out there in a dominating fashion so his claim to fame was already established. Vitali certainly didn't play second fiddle when he beat the **** out of Corrie Sanders. The funnier statement is that 2 guys who "beat" Vitali refused career paydays to face him again. Pathetic.
4 rounds to 2. What's 2+1=? What's 4-1=? That's how close it was to being even. And answer me a simple question, who landed the more effective punches? There is no such thing as luck in a fight Kitty. Vittles threw punches with the sole purpose of doing damage but couldn't quite achieve it. Lewis threw punches with the sole intention of doing damage and accomplished that. No luck involved, just what was intended. You keep using derogatory names like "***** boy" because Lewis retired on a win. What words do you use or Vits lying to his fans after quitting against Byrd while remaining active and never seeking a rematch? :huh
You must not have been watching boxing very long. Vittles was only known to hardcore boxing fans when he won his paper title. And don't kid yourself, Vits has been playing second fiddle his whole career to little bro. Lewis retired and stayed retired. Vittles wanted no part of a Byrd rematch and never offered a thing. Links or STFU.
Lennox Lewis fans really need to ask themselves a serous question, and answer truthfully. Why didn't Lewis give Vitali a rematch? think about it objectively, this is all what the fight fans wanted to see at the time, Vitali constantly called him out, we saw this after the lewis-klitschko fight. Watch the interviews after vitali v sanders, and many more interviews. Vitali has been fighting hes 41 now, still hasn't retired, why couldn't lewis find in himself to fight one more fight, we saw how vitali performed no doubting, look at the scorecards, this fight really needed a rematch, vitali deserved a rematch. Why couldnt Lewis motivate himself for one last fight, just to shut up all the klitschko fans, he could have easily done it, but he didn't you know why Truthfully now, Lewis knew vitali gave him one of his toughest fights, he knew in a rematch he would have no chance of winning, so retired
Lets not beat around the bush now, lets be clear . 1) Lennox Lewis Won the fight no doubt, tko 6, however he was fortunate, lets be truthful here, it was very close, it could have gone either way, we dont know what would have happened if the vitali cuts hadnt happened some say it was because of headbutt, the glove lace, some say from a punch we just dont know BUT WHAT WE DO KNOW EVEN THE LEWIS FANS MUST AGREE V KLITSCHKO DESERVED A REMATCH. Boxing NEEDED THIS REMATCH. we would never know what would have happened if both fighters had time to prepare Vitali worked so hard, Vitali easily won the first 4 rounds, the lewis fans should have no doubt of this, lewis was staggering all over the place there is no doubt about this, , he couldnt keep his balance, he was breathing heavily, however and no doubt Vitali at the end of round 6 was also tired breathing and holding for dear life no doubt vitali gave Lewis such a tough fight that Lewis should have given Vitali a rematch, for the fans at least, for the sport of boxing now facts aside this is my opinion, if im being truthful Lewis retired only because he knew he would have lost a rematch if he had beaten vitali convincingly we would have seen him as heavy weight champion for a couple of more fights, instead of vacating his title.
Too many stupid arguments about a Vitali who was cut badly against a semi active out of shape old Lewis. Neither version was the real version. Prime Lewis of Morrison,Golota,Holyfield I,Tua,Grant fight against Vitali of Danny Williams, Kirk Johnson,Larry Donald,Ross Purrity,Corrie Sanders fight. No cuts. These are facts both sides MUST admit. 1- It was an old, under prepared, inactive Lewis. 2- Lennox did avoid a rematch 3-Cuts made a difference, but they were LEGAL cuts. 4- Vitali might have gotten even better after the Lewis match because of the experienced learned. 5- If the fight had continued, Lewis MUST be made a slight favorite to KO Vitali because of the bleeding. Nobody is cake walking in this fight. I see a bitter hard fought contest between an ATG and a borderline ATG Champion.
Good post, but you must understand. If a Prime Lennox ducked a 'rematch, that is a totally different situation than what really happened. Old Lewis beat Prime Vitali (via cuts), so it's not like Lewis retired in his prime or in his youth to avoid Vitali. A old Lewis already on his way out retired.. The big elephant in the room which few people talk about is that if the fight had gone on, Lewis would most likely had a ko. Vitali actually lost Rounds 3 5 and 6. The judge cards were not really accurate, if you watch the fight, there was no way Vitali won the 6th round. Realistically it was 3-3, with Lewis winning 3 of the last 4 rounds. The momentum was going towards Lewis. That's the big thing a lot of fans forget. People go on and on about cuts and rematches, but forgot to watch the actual fight. Vitali was on his way out.
This is a good analysis. Vitali was suffering from bleeding and blood clots, Lewis was suffering from excess fat, age, and lack of preparation. Prime Vitali vs Prime Lewis would have been a real war. 8-4 or 7-5 to Lewis, a competitive but clear victory.
How was it not the real Vitali? Lewis cutting him is due to being outboxed not being less than best. stupid argument and stupid thread. That being said, KO Lewis
The truth is Lewis retired because he had nothing left to prove. If he could come in fat and out of shape there is no doubt an in shape and motivated Lewis beats him again and even easier. Vittles had his chance and simply wasn't good enough to protect himself from getting busted up.
I really do believe prime for prime, without cuts, i don't believe lewis would beat vitali on points, vitali throws too much and connects regularly, he is rarely behind on the scorecards. So lewis only hope would be a knockout, I think vitali has the chin to sustain lennox punches, one of the hardest chins ive ever seen, and if they had time to prepare i am sure vitali would train to not get hit by those shots. Lewis only hope is TKO if he doesn't get a TKO vitali wins on points we just don't know, but one things for sure ill be the first one to buy a ticket, I would love to have seen both guys, both true warriors really go for it.
