Who were the hardest trainers? Every great fighter has trained hard for large parts of his career, but there were some that obviously trained harder than most. Marciano and Hagler comes to mind. Any more?

For some fights, but not throughout his career.

Hopkins is another who always seems to be in great shape. Sal Sanchez is supposed to have been a very diligent trainer.

    Buster Douglas.

Though I'm very sarcastic right now.

    Timothy Bradley

Manny Pacquaio in and before his prime, he basically had to outhustle fighters to win fights when he was a featherweight facing more skilled guys.

Bernard Hopkins always has been very dedicated.

Evander Holyfield always seemed to be in great condition

Rocky Marciano was known for his love of grueling training camps, ditto Marvin Hagler.

    Joe Frazier

Paul Williams style was based on fitness, so he always had to be super fit. He sems to have that characteristic that he may have developed in training to "ignore pain", whether it be taking punches or shoulder fatigue while doing punch outs on the bag, etc.

James Kirkland looks like he busts his ass for his conditioning.

Floyd Mayweather seems like a fanatical trainer and he is always preaching about how hard he works. Probably a psychological element also in making your opponents believe your training camps are legendary when in reality im sure all top fighters are extremely dedicated

The Klitschko's always seem to be in great shape - not sure whether they're known for it or not but they must train very hard - they should be more applauded for this aspect I their game I think - can't think of many champions at heavy who didn't have at least one period where they let their condition let them down - but those two have never looked anything but absolutely tip top.

Think James J Jeffries was a brutal trainer by all accounts - even for comeback versus Johnson he must've trained like a demon to just get back to that

There's dedicated trainers and then there are those who go to the extremes. The latter rarely sustain much longevity.

According to our fellow poster Magna Nasaki, the Klits put in 8 hour days of hard ass training.

    Aside from the names mentioned:

Pep, Pryor, Armstrong, Fullmer, Tiger, Calzaghe would have to be mentioned although I don't actually know much about their training practices it would've had to have been something given their gas tanks.
