Good to see hes well liked.Around the time he fought against our lads imo got a bad press, saying he was a bit of a big mouth, etc.Although always had a lot to say for himself and very cocky(nothing wrong with that)I never heard him slag an opponent,or anyone, off. When he beat the Ukranian, was cheering for him from the armchair like I would one of ours.Big heart, big character.
terrific performance against cotto, most people thought he was just a mouthpiece with a bit of hype but he showed in that fight what he's all about.
If anyone finds a video for this can they bang it up on here would love to see it. Like many others I became a huge fan of paulie from the magic man documentary, seems like a really good guy and a good commentator aswell.
People say he can't punch and is feather fisted, but he did well and truly bust the Ukrainian to pieces in a complete boxing lesson. I was pleased to see he still has the ability to do such a number on someone after having so many hard fights. Like Malignaggi alot, proper boxer and good to watch.
Before his fight with Senchenko, Paulie said he wouldn't go to Ukraine and fight, Senchenko said he wouldn't fight Paulie in the states, on twitter Paulie said he would fight him in the UK obviously that would never of happened but if it did do you think tickets would of sold well?
I used to hate Paulie, but now he's one of my favourite characters in the game. A genuinely honest guy,and I'd strongly recommend the documentary about him from a few years ago. Says a lot about the guy that he considers a loss as his greatest performance. There's definitely a tonne of substance to go with the style.
I wasnt much of a fan of Paulies due to his trap but as time went on i focused on his boxing skills, and later noted hes pretty down to earth and humble. His fabase in the UK will keep growing, also at least he aint scared to cross an ocean or two to prove himself
Paulie Malignaggi always turns up in shape and on weight, promotes his fights well when talking to the media, talks well in a down to earth way, and he always gives his best effort in his fights. A great professional who I have admired for a long time.
McGuigan made a great point about him moving to lightweight, looking back that could have been great for him. Don't understand how he's not more popular in the US. Charismatic, eloquent and great heart.
