I like Tony Grano, he's italian, fun to watch and from up around my neck of the woods. But what is the WBC doing ranking this guy #5 in the world? Totally ridiculous!

Seriously, how does the WBC justify their rankongs? Grano hasn't beat a top 20 fighter from the US, let alone the world.

Grano's legit but he's not top 10 quality IMO. Top 20? Absolutely.

Well, it would be ridiculous if Ring had him in the top five. But, when a sanctioning body does it, it's out of the guys they have in their own ranking, not some objective, educated guess at who the top guys in the world are. If you're a top 15 in the WBA, WBC, IBF or WBO, because you've played ball in their court, you're most likely one of the top sixty in your weight class, at the very least. And that's what you can really count on with those rankings. That you're probably in the top sixty if you hit one of the orgs' top fifteen. If that doesn't fill you with a sense of security, I simply don't know what will.

Lol, that's an interesting way of looking at things. I still think its a joke he has such a high ranking though and he could conceivably fight for a world championship.

As I mentioned before, he's solid but not spectacular. With that said, I can honestly see him beating Mitchell and Arreola.

He'd last 3 rounds at most with either, and I'm no fan of Mitchell.

Maybe Grano is "connected"... and made the WBC an offer they couldn't refuse :!:

HBO comes with a new series soon called "The Granos", with Tony Grano playing the lead caracter.

    Well played.

And in his title fight, he'll anticlimactically pinch **** the nose of his opponent, killing him dead.

Grano generally has the most problems with the super heavies who overwhelm him with raw size/strength as he isn't very tall and he fights flat footed most of the time.
I'll agree that Grano would be a bit out of his element dealing with Arreola's work rate and "stop missing! hit me dammit" defense.

With that said, Grano's more proven as a professional fighter than Mithell IMO and I think it's possible that Tony could catch him on an off night and shock some people.
