I thought Benton should have gotten the nod in that fight..Carter was busier but Bentons defense allowed him to block and slip most of those punches, it was a damn good fight and close but i think the ref Arthur Mcante had it right ...what are your thoughts?
I thought it could've gone either way but most importantly it showed that Benton, the defensive master, was strong and skilled on the inside, and 'Hurricane' Carter, the power punching 'slugger', was actually pretty technically adept and implemented some tidy pressure. One of my favourite 10 round contests. Did you watch it on YouTube?
no it came on ESPN classic bout 2 in this morning..Carter had great head movement..Denzel really got his style down pack in the Hurricane
Yeah. I've got most of McClarnin-Canzoneri. Robinson and Fullmer vs Castellani. Moore vs Maxim. Used to have Pastrano Torres. Ortiz Laguna 3. They dont do that in England Flea. Early in the morning.
If there were some mystical way to transport those things onto YouTube I would Flea. The McClarnin battle with Canzi is especially interesting. Its the one where he walks into the mic so one?
Benton must have been some boxer, but was beaten ,i think by John Cowboy McCormack of Glasgow.Thats one Id really like to see.Carter looked dynamite for a few fights on Fight of the Week in the 60s on BBC,especially against Fernandez.Later on fought Harry Scott twice. One apiece, and IMO nothing between them either fight.
