I have been thinking lately that Pavlik might have a chance. I think Pavlik is legitimitly angry with things in his life based on his latest interviews. And I think an angry Pavlik is a very dangerous fighter.

A fighter like Kelly can't get complacent, he has to be ready to kill the fighter infront of him. What he did to Taylor, Miranda, Zertuche and others you can't do if your getting complacent. To do what Pavlik does when at the top of his game you have to be literally willing to kill someone with your bare hands.

Anyway how do you all think it would effect Pavliks legacy if he actually beat Ward? BTW I think Ward is a tough tough fight for Kelly.

    Ain't happening Red.

Good because it would force Lampley to remove his tounge from Ward's Anus.

Bad because Merchant would try to make a speech about kids from Youngstown being tough, and we'd be waiting till ****ing christmas for him to finish.

It would be huge for Pavlik and in my opinion a very big surprise if he beat Ward.

It would be a small shock, but not as big as some would make it out to be. Ward has been very protected and had an easy ride which isnt ending with this fight, in getting to fight previously beaten and clowned fighters who have been out slicked.
So small shock, but not Buster Douglas/Mike Tyson

Agreed. Angry or not, he's always been dangerous when he's focused, motivated and hungry. He's all three right now:bbb. He just needs to forget about everyone's expectations for him and harness the grit and determination that he showed as an unproven kid against Zuniga and McKart...or the fighting spirit he showed against Zertuche and Miranda. If he does these things, the world is his. Go get 'em Ghost.

I said it would be a small shock. I know it was all before your time, so hard for you to relate to or understand, but it as said wouldnt be Douglas/Tyson

You creamed yourself just reading the title. You would go nuts if Pavlik landed the once in a lifetime shot and we all know it.

All the comments about beating each other up for peanuts and then he walks in and takes all from the winner of the tourney? Showtime would put out a hit on him. I would've preferred the Froch fight first but since the negotiations never seemed to get off the ground I gotta think it was a money issue and or fighting in Nottingham. He saw what happed to Dirrell there.

    Huge for the MW/SMW/LHW divisions...
A Ward loss right now impacts all three weights classes.

If Pavlik could catch Ward this win would be a game changer for him.

I'll agree with you on this one. I was in high school then, and the Tyson/Douglas fight looked like such a mismatch, I didn't even stay home to watch it.

Needless to say, I've seen it about a hundred times since then. Just to date myself: my dad stayed home and recorded the fight on a VHS tape for me.

    Ward.

He enters a competition where all of the original contenders fought abroad. Ward didnt.

He was awarded 2 points in that same competition for not fighting whilst the runner up had to fight a replacement.

He didnt fight any of his tournament competitors in their home ground.

He didnt face one undefeated fighter in the comp.

He has (not all his fault here, but did duck Bute) only got past best fighters at the top to face. His best win was a fighter exposed by an old past best previous champ.

He had an easier S6 run route overall than his runner up. His runner up fought all of the original S6 opponents one after the other and was away 5 out of 6 times. Fought Kessler at home allowed to use the head, Green , Abraham who was 1-2 in his last 3 fights and badly exposed :-(

He avoided Bute who was deemed his biggest threat

Only fought Dawson at a weight drained weight where he had no pedigree (though Chad did offer that in fairness)

Tell me what top undefeated fighters Ward has fought?
