    :huh

Possibly. It's been a good two years since I was focused on it, but from what I recall, after he beat Garcia (the #1), he didn't really defend it against rated welterweights much at all. Understandable considering he really wasn't one himself (and the Ross win is tremendous for that too) but it was the title he had. You couldn't get Monzon to defend his crown against anybody outside of the top three for almost the entire duration of his run. And hell no, I don't consider Valdez, Benvenuti, Briscoe, Griffith, et al. a bad crop at all. Valdez should be a Hall of Famer too.

    Valdez no.

But take a look at armstrong at welter and the guys he was fighting elsewhere. He was beating Ross and then beating Jenkins at the next weight and defending that run. That is the greatest title run in history, OVER Louis imo.

Some other admissions would say yes.

    You mean Lou Ambers?

I mean, he beat Lew Jenkins too later on.

From October 1937 to November 1938, Armstrong took the Featherweight title off of Petey Sarron, bested HOFers Chalky Wright and Baby Arizmendi at lightweight, beat Barney Ross for the Welterweight Title, then Lou Ambers for the Lightweight title and turned around and defended the Welterweight title against #1 contender Ceferino Garcia. The latter three took place in three consecutive fights.

He's Top 5 P4P for that sequence alone.

    :rofl :rofl :rofl

I would squeeze Escopeta into the top 20 though, relatively comfortably.

But yah, I think Henry Armstrong has a case for GOAT. Where were you at when I was rockin' the Homicide Hank avatar? **** was too Classic.

(And damn both of those aliases are dope) :deal

    Yeah, probably.

Escopeta a.k.a. Shotgun a.k.a. Carlos Monzon
    Homicide Hank a.k.a. Henry Armstrong

    Hammerin? Hurricane? Hell Nah.

Escopeta > Manos de Piedra, Mantequilla, El Flaco Explosivo, El Radar, Gavilan

    In terms of nicknames.

Sugar is probably the ****in worst. I never refer to them like that. SRR, SRL. :deal

yeah, I never use SRR or Sugar. I just refer to them as "ray" ...real boxing fans will know which one I'm referring to :yep

Homicide is an ATG name for an ATG guy. Style for it too...

I REALLY like Mantequilla....I wish Sexy stole that name because it rolls so nice. maravilla is very nice as well though.

    "Rockabye" Rubes?

You guys need to start promoting this Charles > Armstrong thing I've been drumming up for over a year now. Seriously. Now. And I mean 'now', as in, 'right now'.
