Boxers risk their reputations and careers by taking PED's, but they don't really help them

Yeah, sure believe what you wish; boxers take PED's because they lower their abilities. A boxer takes PED's and his power, speed, stamina all decrease.

I said the right ones "probably" did... But i believe certain ones don't... What is wrong with that?

I read a interesting study on andro, how different weight lifters were put on it and didn't gain anything over others that were not on it...

So yeah, I think certain PEDs probably help a boxer, but they don't give them skill, chin, toughness, or the will to win.... You can't take a pill and become an amazing boxer... I think the sport has been riddled with PEDS over the last 50 years anyway, many fighters would have failed tests, had they been given...

I keep that in mind, before I label someone a cheater and dismiss their career.

let it go bro an year ago I was telling that a lot of boxers are on PEDs and everybody was in denial. Now they accept that they are on PEDs but it doesn't help them. In fact it lowers their abilities.

I agree when you state it like that. I honestly never labeled someone chearter. I'm not perfect myself to accuse other people even if they've done wrong. That said you do agree that a very close fight the PEDs can make the difference??

Its funny I can't speculate but every person who is crying about steroids knows for certain what the effects are as well as the results ..If anything most PED's are detrimental to a boxer over the course of a long fight I mean for all the crap about how fighters are on something can train longer that results never translate into the ring .Or least for the guys who have been caught .

I am sure PEDs would help a fighter in a close fight, it would depend on the ones they took though...

Morales would not be helped... he was trying to make weight...

If Roy actually took Andro, like he stated, I don't think it would have helped too much, Roy was a special fighter either way... There is no steroid that can turn you into Roy Jones.

It is all wrong either way though... I don't agree with it... It certainly puts doubt on a career...

    Actually, no.

They are banned because many (possibly all) of them are dangerous, and lead to long-term health benefits. The powers-that-be don't want pros using them, because then it puts pressure on amateurs to do the same, creating a huge health issue.

If PEDs were simply being banned because they help an athlete do better, then they'd also have to ban carbo-loading, plyometrics, daily vitamins, running, lifting weights, and eating well.

Look I will give you an example. EPO is a drug for people with anemia. It is well documented by clinical trials that it improves stamina. There are tons of evidence in sports history that it does help improve the stamina. It a boxer takes it he will inevitably have more steam in the later stages of a fight. Those are the facts. You will never know about Vargas, maybe Oscar was going to KO him in the second round.

yeah all those disgrace athletes like Marion Jones and Lance that were in fact hampering their results by cheating.

Edit the last part is true though they are banned because they are dangerous and they enhance the results. Keep in mind a blood transfusion is harmless but it is still forbidden so there are exceptions.

those drugs dont tell you when to throw punches or move your damn head. at very best it can make a fighter more durable then he or she normally is and sometimes more punching power depending on what the drug is.

    Why, thank you!

Let's look at it another way:

There are plenty of PEDs & supplements that are NOT banned nor illegal. Why? because they aren't dangerous.

They still help an athlete perform better, virtually every athlete uses them, and no one cares. (nor should they.)
