First live fight I went to was Kirklaind Laing, can't remember the opponent, he won in 4 or 5. First world title fight was Jim McDonnell against Brian Mitchell at the Elephant, loads of anti apartheid protestors outside

One of Tyson's early fights. Wasn't until seein Tua live where i truly became a die hard fan though, that left hook is amazing to see.

You were not alone, Calzaghe (I thought rightly at the time), was a pretty big underdog.

This is the 1st i remember watching live, only cos my mate was in the other room fingering a bird and came in shoved it under me and another mate noses singing' fishie finger pie fishie finger pie' or something like that. I watched hagler/hearns/SRL/conteh/ ect before this one but it just stands out to me does the fight for some reason :)

Those who turned pro in 1980 or later:

    5 Ricardo Lopez
    4 Roy Jones
    3 Oscar de la Hoya
    2 Pernell Whitaker
    1 Julio Cesar Chavez

Hopkins and Holyfield just miss out. If I included 'active' fighters, Lil Floyd and Pacquiao would be there.

    As for Brits:

    5 Nigel Benn
    4 Chris Eubank
    3 Naseem Hamed
    2 Joe Calzaghe
    1 Lennox Lewis

Honeyghan and McKenzie miss out. Out of the active fighters, maybe in due course Froch might replace one of his 168lbs peers.

Grew up watching videos of Ali,Frazier,Tyson but first live fight was when i was around 7 a Frank Bruno fight from around 1992,it was on itv and he fought some bum,i think he stopped him in a round or two,i think the guy was Madonna's bodyguard...
