you can dance all you want,if you punch like a girl, don't have the speed to deliver your punches and to duck your opponent punches and if you get tired after throwing punches for 3 min you don't belong in a ring.period

Plenty of examples of why power is not necessarily everything. It's an advantage, but not vital to success.

    Timing >>> Speed.

Endurance, true. But it is still not a 'basics' of boxing.

A lot of things rank ahead of these as 'basics'.

Coming from a free spirit who has tried some drugs recreationally, I think if I was on a euphoric stim when I was fighting somebody my skills would be sharper and better for sure. My brain would be working far faster and communicate even better with my body. Pain wouldn't be an issue and nerves wouldn't be. Of course, any ****er who does this in a fight should be banned for life.

chances are if you lack the speed and power you also lack the timing.and even if you're somehow a slow brilliant chess player it won't help you to much if you have the timing and you lack the speed and power...maybe in amateurs

Nonsense. Speed and power has very little relation to timing. You don't need speed to time an opponent, it's not really hard to understand.

bottom line is speed, power and stamina are the most important.would you favor a guy with great timing and great footwork/head movement with no speed, power and stamina over a guy with speed, power and endurance but no dancing skills?

Depends on other factors, it's not just as simple as, would you favour these 3 attributes over these 3.

And no, it is not bottom line. But if I had to answer your question, yes, I would choose great timing, great footwork, defense, over speed, power and endurance.

Timing can neutralise speed - Garcia-Khan.
Footwork can neutralise power - Marquez-Pacquiao.
Defense can neutralise endurance - Abril-Rios.

When talking about the basics of boxing, start talking from the ground up. Footwork. You don't start building a house at the roof do you? Footwork puts you in a position to use your speed, your power, your technique, etc.

Not necessarily skills, but it'll help you recuperate stamina wise inbetween rounds and such.
