I think he's getting better with each fight. I was surprised at how easily he managed to dispatch Morales, even an old, past prime Morales.
His right hand was improved last night. Thats the punch that hurt Morales badly in the 3rd. Ko power in both hands. Kid is dynamite.
I need to see him against someone who will take him into deep waters, stay out of range and make him attack, or neutralize that counter left. He's got quick hands and puts lots of power into those counters, but he doesn't seem like a fighter that can do much coming forward. The defensive flaws in his wide punching form may catch up with him if they're not corrected when he faces someone with comparable timing and power. But he's young and still improving and has earned it all for himself thus far.
That's why I wanna see him against Matthysse next. I wanna see how he reacts to a hard, straight puncher like Lucas constantly in his face.
Agreed on all fronts. The kid's only 24, still a work in progress and learning as he goes. He seems to be able to make adjustments which bodes well for his future. Let's see.
Wow...Failey gets sold on a fighter only after he beats an old, washed up, former champ. Is anyone surprised by this?
His win over Khan said more about him then his fights w/ Morales. As it stands, he's at the top. But it's one thing to get there, it's another to stay there.
