2 undefeated fighters - rios vs alvarado , over 30 fights each no losses

    2 undefeated fighters - N'Dam vs quillen

N'dam knocked down 6 times.... (6 times) and goes all 12 rounds to lose

alvarado getting rocked and nailed...and it must be stopped immediately ! :-(

country ass yokel ref apparently never seen world class leather swapped and pulls the trigger and ends what was becoming a great fight.
    "he was defenseless"
"he was out on his fight"
    "he could have gotten hurt"

    BULL**** reasons

let the man go down at least one time....high profile shoot out on HBO , what a shitty ref that calls these HBO fights...the one with khan and peterson was amazing too.....

Often times it's worse not to go down. Getting dropped from a punch repeatedly while maintaining composure and taking bombs while upheld by the ropes and groggy are two different things.

that line from the ref "I want to take em in deep water, but I do not want to drown them" was a sexy line

Indeed. Alvarado's chin was too good for his own good it seems. I did think the Alvarado stoppage was a shade early, but acknowledge that each ref has to make his own choice based on the circumstances in front of him.

Had HNN shown he wasn't ready to continue after the 8 counts, or had he been laid up against the ropes, with shots incoming, the bout might very well have been stopped. But he recovered quickly each time, and managed to avoid the follow up shots.

Alvarado was in danger of becoming Jermain Taylor. Deal with it.

YDKSAB... Although I can understand the argument. But Alvarado was laying on the ropes getting his head knocked around. That last left hook rocked his whole head back. It was reminiscent of Castillo vs Corelas when castillo's head was knocked backwards. That is a terrible sign honestly. I don't think Alvarado could have DEFINITELY continued, in the same way that Gatti did against Ward, in the round where the fight couldve been stopped as he was not in there with a fighter like Rios, who knew how to keep his guy on the ropes, and Alvarado was standing tall too and just getting hit with loaded up punches because of it.. The only problem with this, was Alvarado wasn't going down, and didn't know how to react to being hurt at all, didn't tie up, wasn't fighting back, didn't take a knee to recollect himself. He was just getting pummeled He did try to move though. It's a tough one, I think had it continued he may have suffered some real damage as he didn't know what to do, being pin on the ropes, and there was no way Rios was going to let up.

Getting KD you have time to recollect yourself, honestly, and prepare yourself to hold on or something -- gives you time to think if you are not that out of it.

Flash kds are less dangerous than consecutive hard shots.

Alvarado should have definitely taken a knee. Like the other poster said it's often better to take a KD then walk around like a man on crack.

In the Rios/Alvarado fight I thought the ref jumped the gun until I saw the slow-mo.

Alvarado was getting pummeled and was looking defenseless.

  15. A knockdown caused by a punch is MUCH different than getting trapped against the ropes with nowhere to go. These 2 fights are unrelated, quit bitchin.
