Its not about inside abilities or defensive skills, just who has the strongest chin between these 2 guys in your opinion ?!

Ward got knocked down by Darnell Boone ( who also knocked Stevenson ) and Bute got brutally T.K.O'd by Froch !

So , who can take better a good clean shot ?

Neither has a very good chin

Ward's never been stopped so I would say his is better than Bute's. Ward's defence is obviously far superior

Both have a good enough chin for it not to be the limiting factor at world class level. That's all that matters. To answer the question, Bute has a good to very good chin. Ward has a chin that is at least good.

Ward's chin is better. He took a couple of Froch punches without any problems. All be it those punches weren't as potent/effective as the ones Bute had to endure.

Bute's chin is rated too low now because of two incidents.
The Froch fight was a clear 'deer in the headlights' issue in wich he just froze up for whatever reason. Don't think many SMW's would have stayed on their feet after taking such a number of Froch's shots trapped against the ropes.
And the Andrade 1 fight he had gassed out and took a couple of flush shots before going down.

Also Ward's chin isn't that bad either.

Froch hit Ward after the bell with his guard lowered with a left hook. Ward just looked at him.

Bute was being wobbled everytime a gust of wind from one of Froch's punches brushed chin.

    Do the math

Bute was drained against Froch, certainly not a chin issue.

I wanted to add the weight draining issue when Bute got tko'd by Froch but I didn't do it cuz I didn't want this thread to be abused by Bute's troll-haters ( u know who they are ) :yep

If you had watched some Bute fights against punchers who have clocked him good, you'd know his chin is better than decent. I didn't say it was very good. I said it was between good and very good. B to B+.

Bute's problem is not his chin. This is not what's letting him down.

His big problems are that he doesn't have an inside game. His inside game is probably no better than C level. Probably C- level.

Also, his defence is probably no better than B-, when it comes down to it.

Regarding Ward, his chin was always the area that people were worried about, for him. It turns out it's good enough not to stop him from achieving his A level potential. So it's good enough, given all the other areas of his game.

If I had to choose, I would have no hesitation in saying Bute has the better and more proven chin.
