When will the myth that Khan was dominating or easily winning vs Garica end?

GARCIA WAS IN CONTROL FROM ROUND 1 ALL kHAN WAS DOING WAS OUTWORKING HIM WITH PITTY PATS AND WINNING THE FIRST 2 ROUNDS AS A RESULT WHILE GARCIA WAS SETTING TRAPS AND TIMING HIM. YOU COULD TELL FROM THR GET GO WHO WAS RELAXED IN THERE AND WHO WAS JITTERY AND BLOWING HIS LOAD EARLY. I THOUGHT KHAN WOULD WIN WAY BIGGER IN THE FIRST FEW ROUNDS AND ALTHOUGH I DID PREDICT GARCIA BY KO I THOUGHT IT'D BE LATE AFTER GETTING OUTCLASSED BUT ONCE THE FIRST ROUND WAS OVER AND I SAW GARCIA LANDING SIGNIFICANT COUNTERS WHEN KHAN FLURRIED AND SAW HOW CALCULATED AND COMPOSED HE WAS IN THE LINE OF FIRE I KNEW THAT KHAN WAS GOING SOON. I REMEMBER NOT BEING SURE ABOUT GIVING ROUND 1 TO KHAN CAUSE I TYPICALLY FAVOUR QUALITY PUNCHES OVER QUANTITY

Its amazing how much the Garcia/Khan fight still gets talked about on here, you would have thought it was a mega fight of epic proportions if you ain't know better.

Exactly. Khan literally does NOTHING but jump in flurry jump out, jump in flurry jump out. He has nothing else but speed. No skills, defense, ring iq. He doesn't faint, has no head movement and little variety in his punches.

Khan either can't or doesn't want to learn these things and everyone who thinks Hunter will make him a better fighter are most likely going to be disappointed because if Khan hasn't learned and used these things by now then a new trainer isn't going to make a difference.

People want to blame Roach for not being a defensive trainer but he's one of the best offensive trainers and Amir's offense never changed and is still the same amateurish style it was when he first turned pro.

Khan started typically fast and Garcia started typically slow. I thought the first two rounds both went to Khan but in the third, the dynamic of the fight changed. Garcia landed a right hand and I remember Khan's legs stiffening up a little bit. The commentators didn't mention it but I think that shot affected Khan.

The premise of the thread is right though. It was a competitive fight, albeit one that Khan was winning. It wasn't just a lucky shot out of nowhere. Garcia was having success.

Start of Round 3 Angel Garcia says to his son "He's taking you apart son". But, you could see that Garcia was ad******g to Khan's speed and countered very well.

Khan nut huggers are die hard and Garcia has a lot of haters for some odd reason. And even through Garcia won big both still try and use the fight to discredit Garcia or try and make it like Khan is great but just got caught by a "lucky punch".

If khan dominated him for 10 rounds and got caught the khan bum boys could allow him that excuse But he got caught in the 3rd round went down like a sack of potatoes and got dropped twice in the next round, It was too early in the fight to say he was dominating garcia.
khan will get KO'ed again in a rematch he needs to keep his head down and avoid big punchers.

I honestly don't think Khan is able to learn. He's worked with Oliver Harrison, who is a very good trainer in Britain and has worked with some excellent fighters. He's worked with Rubio, who was part of the Cuban national set up and then worked with Roach, who is the best trainer in the modern era. His problem is that he fights the way Mick Jelly taught him to fight because he can't take on board the advice the better professional trainers have given him. Moving to Oakland to train with Hunter isn't going to change a thing, he's still going to be the basic, predictable, flawed fighter that we've seen all the way through his pro career. He'll still jump forward and land quick combinations and then bounce around the ring like he's ****ing Zebedee.

Khan is mentally flawed and is incapable of learning. They could resurrect Ray Arcel, Eddie Futch and Charley Goldman but even a triumvirate of that quality would still be powerless to prevent Khan's amateurish style of fighting.

Angel Garcia is an ******* that knows **** about boxing. He got caught up in the moment and the crowd and he was focused like a real trainer would be. Any real trainer would have seen the good work Garcia was doing and how close he was to getting to Khan. Angel Garcia acted like an amateur and got emotional. And Khan was not doing anything close to "picking Garcia apart". Id be surprise if Garcia even knows what that means.

  11. Khan was taking the rounds comfortably before the the punch that landed in the 3rd.

Anyone that know boxing knows this. Yes Garcia landed a few shots, but Khan landed much more and was doing much more damage.

Garcia could have been stopped in 5 if Khan would have avoided leaving himself open for that left hand.

    Punch Stats

    Round 1

    Khan 26/57 46%
    Garcia 6/48 12%

    Round 2

    Khan 30/66 45%
    Garcia 12/49 24%

    Domination by Khan

dont you think khan for a while tried his best to learn to be like pacquiao instead of being his own fighter, he's a bit thick and couldn't figure out pac's ambush style is a style which pac can get away with, the ambush style doesn't suit khans poor footwork and lack of chin.

I couldn't agree more with this. I am a Khan fan and continue to look forward to all his fights but for goodness sake, does he not learn from his mistakes? Juts so many bad habits and so easy to read its ridiculous.

He doesn't even set up his shots, rather a quick flurry to catch his opponent out.

Khan has faltered under heavy hitting/sustained pressure/timing from the opponent. I'm glad he's taking a tune-up because his potential opponents must be laughing at how predictable he is!

Khan wasn't doing any damage. He was blinding him with his speed and making things a little awkward for him, but he wasn't hurting him or anything.

And those compubox numbers do little to show the effectiveness of punches. The harder, more meaningful shots were coming from Garcia. Especially in the second half of the second round and those body shots in the third.
